Hello everyone!

I just wanted to start a thread for the Spring 2021 term at SMU. Has anyone applied or planning on applying? Feel free to drop your stats and scores!

Applying for Spring 2021! My GPA is also not that good but I am hoping! Has anyone started the application process?

I’ve been working on the application slowly for a few months. I just have to complete the essay questions now. If you haven’t started, I can help answer any questions you might have! I’m also not applying with the strongest GPA and am in the middle of retaking some classes to hopefully increase it. I have 1 prerequisite class left that I am taking right now, 60 volunteer hours, 2 letters of recommendation, & currently a Chemistry TA. Fingers crossed!
Best of luck everyone:)

For the GPA, SMU only counts your prerequisite courses towards it. If you got a C or lower on say, public speaking, it won’t count towards you GPA since it’s not a prerequisite.

Hi! I'm applying and already took my HESI in Feb so I'm bummed they're not using those scores. I got an overall 96 and was so happy! My current GPA for sciences are 4.0. My GPA for everything else is 3.8.

Even if they’re not using the HESI, just put your results up in the application since you got a really good score. It might give you some advantage.

I hope you're right. I don't have experience hours to fall back on. I was planning to volunteer this semester and all the shut downs happened.

There are online volunteer opportunity if you want to check that out. Having a 4.0 Science GPA will help a lot too. Good luck!

The word limit is 250-300. I know it says 200-250 on the very top, but if you look under each question it says 250-300. In a live chat we were told to go with the 250-300 word limit. Hope that helps

I didn't know that, thanks! I'll check it out. Good luck to you as well.

Hi All,

I am aiming to apply for the ABSN in Spring 2021. I just have to take Microbio and the pathophysio and pharmacology courses.

Is it true that the HESI A2 is no longer needed? Also, does anybody know or was told by recent grads the schedule and times frames? I'm assuming didactic classes: M-F and clinicals is held on the weekends? I'm trying to figure out my work schedule if I were to get accepted. Good luck to everyone!

Yes, the HESI is not required! Here a pic of the first semester of the BSN program. You can go to a live chat and ask for the ABSN
