Hi all,

Applications are due just around the corner, and I was just wondering if anyone else has started the application process yet.

It would be good to hear back from others who are going through the same process!

congrats blueeyedguy. are you an oakland local?

Hi stifffunny,

Thanks so much for the words of encouragement.. So, it's great to hear that they have more than one round of interviews _and_ that I'm not the only one who got info out at the last minute.

So...I spent late this afternoon working with EB at SMU to get urgent transcripts sent, found a nice person at SJSU willing to send them urgently, and tidied up as many loose ends as possible.

And guess what? Sometime between 4:30 and 5:00 today, my SJSU transcript is noted on Nursing CAS as received. And what's more? It shows received as of 2/1. : \ .

Needless to say, I hate NursingCAS too! LOL. I guess better safe than sorry. I'll keep my fingers crossed for both of us as well... :)

does anyone know how many people they are interviewing? I have heard from people it may be 60 for 20 slots. But the website only provides number of applicants and not number of interviews.

also, does anyone know if one can get accepted with a class pending?

hi everyone,

I am a nursing student. I have just finished up my pre requisites for the 2 year RN. I am applying to my nursing program right now, but I am starting to get discouraged. The school I am applying to only accepts 130 students and about 700 ppl apply. I hear the wait could be years before you get accepted even if you have good grades!!!! I DO NOT want to wait that long, nor do I have the time to wait that long. Does anyone have advice as to how I could possibly seek a faster route to being an RN. I would really like to do the 4 year but unfortunately I do not have enough money to afford it. Are their any hospitals out there that could help pay my way through school?

I am getting ready to take the TEAS. How was it on a scale one to ten. Ten being the hardest? Are you applying to Tarrant County College S campus?

Kelly Jo, there are soooooo many nursing programs out there. There are many that dont have wait lists. I have noticed that alot of teh socal community colleges dont have wait lists compared to norcal. You just have to research and there are websites that lists all RN schools in each state too.

And the TEAS test is not too hard. Its all the basic chemistry, grammar, anatomy, etc.

Hey Sahar

I've browsed through several of the forums about the SM app process from other years. From what I recall they can interview from between 60-80 applicants and it really is based on their discretion if they want to interview more. In past years they've actually added on interview days if they aren't "satisfied" with the existing pool of interviewed applicants. I'm not 100% sure about this though, so don't totally take my word for it, this is purely based on browsing through other forums and I haven't asked a SM counselor about this. As for the number that get accepted, it's more or less around 24 and they take people onto a waitlist just in case those that get accepted decide to decline enrollment.

As for your "class pending" what do you mean by that? You still need to take a prerequisite class? As far as I know, if you still have to take a prereq class, as long as you finish the class by the time the program starts, you're golden.

Thanks tiffany. Yes, I have my interpersonal comm. class in progress right now, but i feel like that might hold me back from getting accepted. They might choose someone who has all their pre-reqs done over someone who has one in progress. But she did mention that you have until end of summer to finish. Its just the nerves i suppose.

Sahar,

I'm sure you're fine. I don't think it will come down to something like that. I, myself, have a microbiology class in progress this semester. You got called in for an interview for a reason, just be yourself and make a good impression! From old forums it seems like the interview can really sway their decision to where some people would get a call within minutes of leaving the interview! The only issue that I would see with a class pending is if you don't pass or if you don't meet the min GPA requirement with the grade you receive and that won't happen right?! :D Good luck with your interview on your upcoming interview! I know they keep the interview process under wraps, so tell us what you can about it when you're done!

Hi Sahar5,

Since you're doing Interpersonal Communication, and you'll have it done by the time the program starts, I'm convinced you'll be just fine. From everything I've heard from the information session and different Q&A, pending classes are low on the totem pole. I don't even think they consider that as part of the selection process -- just as long as you have it done.

In the grand scheme of things, IP is definitely not as crucial as the science classes anyway, and it sounds like you're good with those, so I don't see an issue.

Hope that helped answer your question? Let me know if I'm off the mark.
