Hi all,

Applications are due just around the corner, and I was just wondering if anyone else has started the application process yet.

It would be good to hear back from others who are going through the same process!

friendly terms of service reminder

some posts have been edited to comply with the terms of service.

per the terms of service of this site, please do not post names, initials, or contact information of professors or other school officials on the public board. it is better to communicate this type of information via the private message system. you will be able to send pm's once you have 15 posts.

as stated in the terms of service:

while it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:

  1. it is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. your privacy is paramount to us.
  2. while allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.
  3. please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.

the best to all of you! thank you for your cooperation.

Kzimmerman--it sounds like the applications are slowly trickling down from Nursingcas. I am pretty sure they are still contacting people for interviews. Contacting ****** certainly won't hurt though!

Hi Redcat29. Thanks so much for the info! That does give me some hope. : )

@tnbutterly: Apologies! I had seen other posts with that person's name, so I didn't have privacy top-of-mind. I will definitely abide though, and thanks for the heads up & TOS reminder.

Thanks,

K

is anyone who i accepted moving nearby? Anyone looking for a roomate?

Hi All,

Finally this AM, Nursing CAS shows my GPA calculation! Whew! I'm hoping this gets the ball rolling for my application to be reviewed.

So the timing for the calculation of my GPA has been within the month (Nursing CAS updated on 2/8, and backdated completion to 2/1).

Hi guys,

I just signed up for the board after reading through the thread and hearing from the others who got an early admit! I also got an early admit after my 9am interview on the 22nd. Congrats to all the others and I can't wait to meet you all (some for the second time, it seems) in the fall! Also, I think someone was wondering when people had submitted their applications and heard back from the school. I submitted mine in mid-December and actually didn't get an e-mail from Samuel Merritt confirming that my application was complete until AFTER I received the call notifying me of my early admit!

Polo2004--I replied to your email, I hope I did it right. Let me know if you got it. If not, I'll send the info to the other email address you gave me:)

Loganc7--a big congratulations to you!!

I can't wait to meet all of you guys!!

Did anyone jot down the notes in terms of what we need to have ready by August? Is it just immunization records, CPR, and background check?

Thanks redcat29!

I think they should be sending us more details on what we need to do to prepare once they receive our deposits. If I remember correctly, it's just immunizations, CPR, & PPD. I may be forgetting something, though!

Hey Everyone

I have a quick question. I applied to the school but have yet to take the TEAS. I cannot figure out where to take it! Also wanted to know if it is difficult, similar to the GRE....any advice would be appreciated!

Thank you and good luck to those of you who are accepted.

Hey Silentsiren,

You can take the TEAS anywhere they offer it. It's usually cheaper to take it at a school that offers it than at a Pearson Vue center. And the TEAS is a lot easier than the GRE, lol, no doubt. I don't know if it's too late to study up for it, but there are study guides available to help you that you can purchase. Good luck!

I took the TEAS at Cal State East Bay's Concord campus. If you're in the Bay Area and that school is convenient for you, go to Cal State's nursing info. website page to see when it's offered.

And yes, it is MUCH easier and different than the GRE. You can't really even compare them....and I hate standardized tests. They are so limited in evaluation of the student's capability. Don't worry.

@silentsiren4 - SMU has a detailed pdf file in the Admissions Requirement page that shows you all the steps (complete with screenshots) for registering for the TEAS... http://www.samuelmerritt.edu/files/admission/how_to_register_for_the_teas_test_at_pearson_vue.pdf
