Hello!

I applied to the Samuel Merritt ELMSN FNP Spring 2017 cohort! Was wondering if there were any of you out there as I am anxiously awaiting to hear about interviews.

If any current SMU ELMSN FNP students have any input on:

1. the interview process

2. what you would do to prepare for the program knowing what you know now

3. why you chose SMU

Also, GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! Please don't lose hope and faith. I've had multiple friends start on the waitlist and then being accepted. Not everyone accepts their offer of admission whether it's due to the location/ tuition/ other programs contacting them as well. Continue crossing your fingers :D. I'm crossing my fingers for all of you as well!

@btorok Thank you! I unfortunately don't remember all of their exact numbers but I do think one of them was #6 on the waitlist. It should vary though year by year how many people move up.

Do you guys know when is the deadline to make deposit for the program? I think that should be when we start to see the number moving up (if any). Thanks guys.

I have not heard anything back from SMU, and I interviewed on the 21st. Is this a sign that I should expect a rejection email later this week? They told my group that we would hear admission decisions by the end of this week.

@Pewpew 23: In the email, it said that acceptance, waitlist, and rejection letters were sent out. You may want to check your spam mail. Also, you can contact the admission office and ask them about this. It could be an error?

I called twice yesterday and again today asking Kirsten if all admission decisions had been sent out. She said they were currently in the process and we'll hear back shortly. I don't understand why she would say that if your email said the opposite

@Pewpew23 Interesting. I'm not sure. This is what was written in the email:

"Thank you for completing the application process for the Entry Level Master of Science in Nursing - Family Nurse Practitioner program at Samuel Merritt University. The process has been competitive with many very qualified applicants. We are nearing the conclusion of the process and offers of admission have been made, denial letters have been sent and a wait list has been established. "

I'm guessing "denial letters" means rejection letter via snail mail.

I would be patient and optimistic! It sounds like they are still trying to make a decision on your application which means you could still get admitted!

I also interviewed on the 21st. I received an email that I had been waitlisted on the 26th. It said that both admissions and denial notices had also been sent out so it seems like you should have heard something (although i remember in our group they did mention we would hear by end of this week) Maybe email Kirsten with a question?? I know how excruciating it is not hearing anything... good luck.
