Samuel Merritt ELMSN-FNP Spring cohort 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Hello Everyone!

I was having difficulty finding a thread for this group of people, but please excuse me if there was previously a post!

To my understanding, applications are currently under review and interviews will be sent out by the end of this month? I just wanted to know if anyone else has heard back from the SM spring 2016 Sacramento ELMSN-FNP admissions?

Thanks

Hi everyone, congrats on getting accepted to the SMU ELSMN program for 2016!!

I am applying for the 2016 FNP program in Oakland for 2016. I was just hoping I could get some insight from all of you who just went through the application process. Any suggestions on what they might be looking for in terms of experience, TEAS score, and GPA? I know there has been some discussion in previous years but I was just curious about any new info.

Also, any comments/ insights on the interview? I know I am jumping the gun a little here because if I do get accepted to interview, it won't be til next Jan or Feb, but it doesn't hurt to hope!

Thanks everyone, and again, CONGRATULATIONS to those of you starting in Jan!!

I just tried making a FB group but was unable to because you have to add at least one friend to it for it to go through.

To any waitlisted folks out there, I will be contacting the FNP program coordinator tomorrow morning to decline my spot in the program (I am going with the ABSN). Good luck everyone and congratulations! :)

@FutureNP2019: In regards to your earlier questions about stats, I would just say do the very best you can and ideally your stats would be relatively close to those stated as student "averages" on the SM website. This sounds like generic info I know but while these baseline stats might get you through Admissions, per dept. interview evaluators that decide the program candidates, "it's an inspiring story of your passion for the profession that will get you the spot." Numbers can be slightly circumvented for the right candidate. Hope this helps.

@ghostyRN - Someone said that? During the FNP interview, they hardly asked anything personal about the interviewers. There was nowhere that I felt I was able to convey my passion for nursing.

@chinicuila - I am adding you so that we can make a FB group!

@futurenp93: Says the future RN that was, per you earlier in this feed, accepted to the program. Some opportunities are taken, not necessarily given. Congrats again, my point exactly. See you in January!

@GhostyRN - Hmm, I'd say my essay questions conveyed a lot more about my passion than my interview did. Either way, it worked, so I'm glad!

My previous comment isn't there anymore, but I made a Facebook group! It's called "Samuel Merritt ELMSN Spring 2016." Please join!

Hi everyone,

Not sure if anyone will respond, but I'm in the process of trying/prepping to apply for Sacramento's Spring 2017 cohort (I know, I'm early), however I'm in the process of writing a personal statement. I work full time, go to school in the evenings, so starting early for me is just something I'm going to have to do. For those who applied for the Spring 2016 cohort, I'm just curious to see if you used NursingCas. If so, is there a personal statement component involved with this application and is the prompt the generic essay of why I want to become a nurse and go to your school or is it a bit more specific depending on what ELMSN program I want to go into? I do want to apply for the FNP track, so any help in this area would be greatly appreciated! :)
