Samuel Merritt BSN Spring 2019

Published

Hi all! I wanted to start this forum for potential Samuel Merritt BSN students. I have read over the forums from previous semesters and wanted to create this one for all of us anxiously awaiting the results for admission. This area was created for potential questions, shared experience, and to keep each other updated on any incoming news. I know we still have a couple months before we hear back, but maybe it will ease our minds a bit through discussion.

We got our orientation day! Can't wait to meet you all! (:

I've been checking everyday and still haven't seen anything for our orientation day! Are you referring to the January 7th orientation? Because I thought we were supposed to attend one prior to that?

Yes, I think January 7th from 7 to 4 is the only orientation we have other than the online one. I thought there would be an earlier one too, but I guess we can just go to an campus tour to see the school before January!

Oh awesome! Thanks for clearing that up!

Hello everyone! Did anyone on the waitlist get an update? We were supposed to receive one today, Oct 30, but I haven't seen anything.

I got my waitlist update email earlier this evening. Sadly, the waitlist hasn't moved - still #12. :(

Looks like I'll need to apply again for Fall.

Specializes in New Grad Nurse.

I emailed them at 5:45 last night and then they sent it at 8:30. But Shawnas out of town until Nov 2nd. So I'm trying to find out if it was actually updated or if they sent out the same email after I had asked them for an update.

Hey all! Shawna is out of her office until Nov 2. Maybe that is why it hasn't been updated or people didnt get one. Stay positive!

Hey JD. Any idea what kind of schedule we can expect to see for clinicals our first semester? Are they full days or broken into a few hours?

Hey! When I went on the tour it seems like clinicals are separate days from class and kind of in shifts. That way if you have morning classes you can have morning clinicals on the other days then have all afternoons and evenings for homework and etc. But nothing is for sure. All I know is we find out our clinicals in December

Hey JD. Any idea what kind of schedule we can expect to see for clinicals our first semester? Are they full days or broken into a few hours?

Hey! Sorry for the late reply. But clinical is one day a week, and it will be a Psych rotation. One clinical shift usually on a Wednesday, time frame ranging from 7-4PM or so. Hope this helps give a better idea of what to expect!

To those admitted, have you all completed the CPR/BLS class? I still need to take that and will go to SMU's partnership location at 'Heart Start CPR'. They have 15% off the class if taken with them
