Just wanted to start an information-sharing thread for those applying for the ABSN Summer 19 cohort at Samuel Merritt University (in Oakland, CA and San Mateo, CA). Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Hi everyone!

I applied only for the San Mateo June 2019 start. This is my first time applying to SMU. I am taking pharma and patho this semester at Butler College.

I took my pharm and patho online through Butler CC in Kansas over last summer. Really great instructors, but a lot of work/assignments.

Oh I see. For my pathophysiology class, the prof said that there's no lectures or anything....so it's basically me reading the book myself, doing the activities from the access code that comes with the book, and exams -.-

I'm so nervous! I'm afraid of not getting in because of my past grades from my undergrad years =/ my grades for the pre-requisites are good but I got quite a few C's from my biology classes...I hope it doesn't affect my application too much

Hi everyone, I applied to Samuel Merritt ABSN and I am anxiously waiting to hear back; keeping my fingers crossed. Yes, I also checked previous timelines, and I think that they will let us know mid February.

Hi everyone! Hoping to get into Oakland Summer too! :)

I was waitlisted for Sacramento for Spring 2019, but didn't get in. I did patho and pharm at Butler in Kansas (online) last Summer and am done with all my prereq's! Best of luck to everyone!

Do you guys mind posting your stats (science gpa, last 60 units gpa and Hesi)? I feel like mine isn’t competitive as everyone else ?

Idk what my last 60 units GPA is but my overall is 3.43 (that GPA includes 2 classes that I retook so I think SMU is going to recalculate that) ; my science GPA seems to be 3.26 (but I retook physiology). My HESI was a 94.4%

I'm not feeling that confident though because I don't have much paid work experience, just a lot of volunteer work. Plus, I did poorly in my introductory biology courses =/

My last 60 units I got a 3.7, science GPA is 3.84, and I got a 90.5% on the HESI. I applied to the San Mateo April cohort. I hope we hear back soon. This wait is killing me!!

Last 60: 3.80

Science GPA: 3.90

HESI: 93%

HESI: 91.6%
