Hi Everyone! I know this is a bit early but I will be applying to SMU for the ABSN program of Summer 2014 (Oakland Campus). I am currently finishing my Bachelor's degree in health science at CSUEB right now and I will be done in the fall. I just wanted to start a discussion on this topic and get to know some people who are applying to the program for summer 2014. Let's get to know each other, share our stats, etc.

Here are my estimated stats that they look at:

Last 60 units GPA: 3.5

Pre req GPA: 3.4

Teas: 83 but I am re taking it in a couple of weeks

Experience: I am a CNA and Med tech currently. I volunteer at John Muir hospital and at American Red Cross.

I hope to hear from some prospective applicants soon!

gca77: was that for Oakland or San Mateo? That doesn't make sense cause I know someone who was 12 on the WL for spring this year and she didn't even make it in.

It was confusing. I asked the odds of being getting a spot as 65 person waitlist for a 48 person cohort seemed high and this is what she said,

Last summer I had 88 people on my list and were accommodated.

However, the WL may or may not exhaust itself. It depends on the cohort.

This is too early to predict. We need a little more time

So I am not sure.

Wow thats interesting! Maybe they put people at the different locations cause obviously 88 of them can't be in the program lol. Or maybe they got a spot in fall?

yea that is what I thought. I am almost more confused now then I was yesterday. But positive thinking!!

I just talked to a counselor and she said last summer she had 88 people on her waitlist and she found spots for them all.

Wow! Really, that's pretty exciting news. Like Rachelynn said, maybe they ended up in the fall cohort. Did you talk to her on the phone? I sent her an email this am and I haven't heard back.

I was accepted into Oakland today. Here are my stats for those looking to apply.

BS Biology / BS Biomedical Engineering

GPA - Last 60 hours - 3.9

Science GPA - 4.0

TEAS 92

2500 hours of healthcare experience

Also I am going to create an FB group for this cohort.

Just heard back, the wait list of 64 is specific to Oakland.

I talked to an admission counselor today and she said it's just for the Oakland Cohort, so if your wait listed you get an email with the wait list number for the first campus you applied for, not all three.

What number were you originally. I was originally 7 and she told me I was 2 but now I think I may be 3 I'm so confused. I'm still hoping too!

because she told me #2 the same week you said she told you, you were 6. Then my friend is friends with #6 originally on the wait list and she told him he was 2 on the phone. makes no sense because if he's 2 then I'm 3. i hope it was a mistake on her part. you and i see to have better corresponding numbers though. I tried emailing her again today but she hasn't replied. i think she's annoyed of me lol. have you heard anything from her regarding april?
