Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2014

Published

Hi Everyone! I know this is a bit early but I will be applying to SMU for the ABSN program of Summer 2014 (Oakland Campus). I am currently finishing my Bachelor's degree in health science at CSUEB right now and I will be done in the fall. I just wanted to start a discussion on this topic and get to know some people who are applying to the program for summer 2014. Let's get to know each other, share our stats, etc.

Here are my estimated stats that they look at:

Last 60 units GPA: 3.5

Pre req GPA: 3.4

Teas: 83 but I am re taking it in a couple of weeks

Experience: I am a CNA and Med tech currently. I volunteer at John Muir hospital and at American Red Cross.

I hope to hear from some prospective applicants soon!

Specializes in OR.

Congrats everyone! I got accepted into the Oakland cohort too! What a relief! Here are my stats for people wanting to get into the program:

undergrad: B.S. Physiology, GPA: 3.77

TEAS: 91

Over 200 hours volunteering at a community clinic in various capacities.

1 year and a half working as a TA for Human Anatomy lab

Great references

Also I got waitlisted for the ELMSN FNP program. I don't think that applying to both programs hurt me.

For waitlisters, I'm still waiting to hear back from two other schools. I think I'm set on attending SMU but not 100% sure yet. I don't think I'll hear back before next month for those other programs.

Best to everyone! If you didn't get in this time, keep trying. You'll get in somewhere sometime.

For those on the waitlist, I spoke to - this morning and she said that I am technically number 2 instead of 6. I'm not sure exactly why but that's fine! She said she won't notify us until we are number 1 and she expects to know more in about 10 days. She says usually the list moves pretty fast and that AT LEAST 10 people tend to get in.

I sent my form in the mail whitneyABSN

Has anyone filled out their fafsa? I'm unsure what I put for what type if program this is.. Should we put "2nd bachelors" or "occupational program that is less than 2 years"??

I haven't heard anything about the SM cohort. Maybe in the next few days. :crossing fingers:

I figure we will find out about the San Mateo cohort soon after because they have the same orientation dates as Oakland and classes start just 1 week after.

Where did you find start date info?

Congrats to you Oakland people!! Very exciting! Keeping our fingers crossed for all us San Mateo folks! Hopefully within the next day or two?

I just talked to a counselor and she said last summer she had 88 people on her waitlist and she found spots for them all.

The academic calendars are posted on the SMU website. Click on the enrollment and student services tab. Then pick the registrar and academic calendars.

Awesome, thanks!
