I thought I'd start this thread since I have not seen one yet. I applied to Samuel Merritt for the Summer I cohort in Oakland 2023. Has anyone else applied too? I know the deadline was October 1st! I am so anxious. the waiting game is so painful LOL
I received an email yesterday from Samuel Merritt stating that they have finished their preliminary review of my application. I am assuming it is part of the process. Based on past forums, It is common to find out sometime around the 2nd week of December. It is a little nerve-wracking since the second Summer deadline is December 1st. I am thinking I will apply to that deadline just in case!
I just got accepted into the ABSN Summer I program at the SF Penninsula Campus! Was really nervous going through the application process cause peers have told me they have applied many times to SMU. But, luckily I was admitted my first try!

Hi everyone, I went down a rabbit hole of reviews after researching the program's pricing. I may be looking at all of the negative reviews that have recently been posted. SMU students are advising prospective students not to attend SMU. I was wondering if anyone else was having reservations about the program. I'm thrilled to have been accepted into the Oakland ABSN program, but after reading all of the reviews, I'm a little worried. I was wondering if anyone else could relate or knows of anyone currently enrolled in an SMU program who has positive things to say.
@Sof01I totally understand how you are feeling. I went down the rabbit hole as well, but in the end I realized, though I truly appreciate the candid responses, I have to make a decision for myself and not someone else's experience. I have known a couple of people to go through the program and have had a lot of positive things to say. I'm also focusing on the many positives that SMU will provide and how good their reputation is. Just yesterday I heard from an outside source that if you go to SMU, it's highly regarded and people want to hire you. That said, I too am thrilled to be accepted. But everyone needs to make a decision based on what is best for themselves. Good luck to you and hope to see you in the Summer!
