Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2010 Applicants

Published

Hi everyone, I just applied to SMC ABSN program for Summer 2010. As the deadline is only tommorow, i'm guessing we have quite some time before hearing back. I wasn't able to find how long we have to wait to get a reply. By looking at other forums from past semesters, I read something like 2-3 months? That would be between sometime between Janurary and February 2010? Post back here if you hear or know anything about Summer 2010 :). Good luck!

TEAS 88.8, science GPA 3.8, last 60 GPA - 3.something (can't remember on the top of my head), with 2 years hospital patients (mainly children and infant) experience. AND I still waiting for my snail-mail packet/letter/call/VM/email or whatsoever from Samuel Merritt.

congrats to those who made it! i am sure your priorities just totally shifted. good luck to you. unfortunately, i just got a letter saying i was not selected for admission, but i was number 10 of 60 on the alternate list for summer 2010 (any campus). does anyone know if i have a chance? if i am on the waitlist, should i reapply to sf for the march 1st deadline?

Amberbos - I think you have an excellent chance of getting in. Based on other threads I have read, many past cohorts have seen over 10 people get in off the waiting list. This does not happen with all cohorts, but you are in a large pool with over 3 campuses. If you do not get the call right away, don't get discouraged. I have heard that some people have gotten in off the waiting list even a couple days after classes actually started. That being said, you should not count on this - reapply just in case.

Amberbos, 10 of 60 sounds good to me- I think you have a very good chance. I do agree with awkwardninja that you should definitely reapply for the fall semester, just in case. That is my plan in the event that I am also waitlisted. Hopefully, today will be the day that I find out..

Congrats to those who got in. I'm still waiting for the big envelope. Does anybody know if its a big white envelope or another color? Anyhow, I guess they might have sent out a few acceptance letters for those who are shoe-ins. I thought I did pretty well, 90.1 TEAS, 3.44 last 60, and 4.0 on science. What else do they want from me???? Ok I can't take this anymore. 4 Months of waiting is driving me nuts. Good luck to everyone and I hope the letters start arriving tomorrow!

4everstudent, my stats were: 3.6 gpa last 60 units, 4.0 in science, 87% TEAs, and no in hospital experience although I do volunteer for a hospice organization.

Amberos, I also think you have an excellent chance of getting in at your spot on the wait list.

Thomasj619, the envelope was not white. It was a few different shades of blue but mostly a very pale blue.

Good luck to everyone that is still waiting to hear!

The big envelope was various shades of blue.

My stats: 3.6 gpa (last 60 credits), 3.8 core sciences, 89% teas; 1 year clinical experience as a hospital volunteer.

I thought my stats were okay but not outstanding. I am not sure what criteria are used. Perhaps essays and letters of recs carry more weight.

Amberos, I agree with previous posts; your chances seem very good at your position on the wait list.

Yes, the waiting is so hard! Good luck to everyone!

I received my acceptance letter to the San Francisco cohort last week. But I already accepted a spot at Mount St. Mary's in LA last month for their summer cohort. I'm kind of bummed b/c Sam Merritt in SF was my first choice but they took so long to notify us.

Congratulations to all of you and good luck!!

Received notice on Friday that I'm on the waitlist. Thankful that it was not an absolute 'no'. But going crazy bc it's a 'maybe'. The waiting never ends! Lol. Aaaahhhh!!!!

If you are one of the first few on the wait list, you will prob get in. I'm not accepting my offer so that is one less person!! Good luck to you. I hear you about waiting, I have been waiting since last year!!

Hi xx4everStudentxx, how were you notified on Friday - via phone or mail? I am STILL waiting to hear and slowly losing hope. Is there anyone else out there who, like me, hasn't been notified yet?

Hi cheri55e, I was notified via snail mail. Hang in there...have you tried calling them to see what's going on?
