Samuel Merritt ABSN Sacramento

Published

Hi all! I am applying to Samuel Merritt Sacramento 2015 spring cohort. I'm wondering if anyone else on here is applying and how many in progress classes do you have?

I am taking Pharmacology and Pathophysio online this summer, then taking Physio and Stats in the fall. Hopefully this isn't too many to be IP when we apply by July 1.

Anxious to hear from everyone!

I applied to the ABSN program as well as the ELMSN FNP program at the Sacramento campus. Good luck to everyone!

I would think you would have to have all your classes done, because they look at you go a as a whole. I don't even think I could apply until all my classes were done...although I did have to take classes at Saint Mary's. Not sure how they work that out in Sac. I would call the college and ask.

As for the in progress classes, you can definitely apply with classes in progress. The more you have the better off you are but I've confirmed that with the counselor in Sacramento several times. I'm literally finishing Path and Pharm (my last two classes) later this morning and I indicated that on the application. Don't worry about IP classes, just make sure you have a plan to have them done before the program starts.

Hi everyone! I, too, applied for the ABSN and ELMSN Case Mgmt Program. I still have to take the pharm and patho, and was wondering what everyone's experience was with taking these online. I have 4 kids at home, so this has to be online for me. Is there a self-study, go at your own pace class, or are they pretty structured? Thanks and good luck to you all!

Hi everyone,

I also applied to Samuel Merritt's ABSN program. I made the Sacramento campus my first choice and San Mateo my second choice. I also applied to the ELMSN-FNP program.

I remember seeing someone ask about the Sacramento campus and I went there to speak with the academic counselor. I didn't actually get to the campus, but what's great about it is the area has a lot of different places to eat. There's a Starbucks, Jamba Juice, and a Togo's across the street but it's also about 10 minutes away from other places like Target and Panera

amber2212: I'm not sure about the patho and pharm classes everyone else took but my patho class was sort of structured. We had an exam every Sunday at 8 o'clock and only had about an hour to complete it. We had no homework but we did have 2 papers to write, but in terms of studying you just had to make sure you studied the chapters that you were going to be tested on within that week. My pharm class was go at your own pace. Everything had to be completed by the Monday of finals week.

Thanks for the info tahkneeyah! I registered of SRCC for Pharm and Moorpark for patho. I was considered Un. of Wyoming Self-study, but that is almost $3000.00 for one class.

Good luck! Anxiously waiting.

Hi all,

I applied for the Spring 2015 cohort. The last thing I need to take is the CLEP test for human growth and development. Anyone taken that? If so, what did you do to prep?

Thanks!

Hey everyone. Just wanted to let you guys know I got an email from SMU this morning at like 1:30 saying my application passed the admissions review and was being passed on to the nursing department.

Hi Everyone!

I applied to SM: Sacramento ABSN for Spring 2015 and they just moved my application to the nursing department. I read we will be notified early Sept. I have one in-progress class: Pathophysiology, which I am taking at Yuba on line. I talked to a neighbor who just completed the course and she told me they DO look at in-progress, since they have no idea what grade you'll receive. For those with all grades in-they get graded first, according to her, but keep in mind she is not working in the office and does not make the decisions. This is just what she told me, but it does make sense. Good luck to everyone. If you get in will you please post? Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone!

I know the website says that we should hear by Sept 11th, but does anyone know if we could potentially hear back sooner? Also one more question (sorry if it's already been asked!) I couldn't manage to get into a pharm class, only one I need :(, does anyone know if I could take the class while enrolled or does it have to be completed?

Thanks and best of luck to everyone!!!

It has to be completed before you start the program. You can have it "in progress" now but it needs to be done before the program starts in January. I'd check around online to see who might offer it.
