Hello everyone! I didn't see a thread started for the SMU ABSN program Fall 2014 yet. I'm turning in my application tomorrow and I'm getting really nervous. Just wanted to see who else is applying and what were everyone's stats.
Stats:
Science GPA: 3.6
Last 60 GPA: 3.2
TEAS V Overall: 73.5%
Good luck to everyone!
They have so much reading to do. I can only imagine how they feel if someone wrote way too much. I do think it was a good idea to limit the words though. It's only fair to everyone else that we equally had the opportunity to express ourselves in our writing. Even though it could have atleast been 500 words, lol.
I agree..I had such a hard time cutting out parts to make it 300. T_T haha I think in the past few years it's been the same though...I know on the old paper application they used to use, it says (1-2 pages) instead of a numerical value. The advisor also used the 1-2 page instructions in an info session I attended in Summer 2013. (300 words double spaced is just about exactly one page, at least that's how it turned out for all of mine)
I agree, it was a challenge to stay within the limit! I cut and cut. I felt like a sculptor with a chisel in my hands. : )
Did you guys notice that they extended the application period for Fall? It now says to apply by March 15th for the Fall ABSN. I'm guessing that it must be a rather flexible application period.
I'm fairly certain that they always do this with us making the "priority" deadline. I'm not so sure if there is any difference or personal advantage on our side of things, but it cant hurt! I think they will continue to accept apps until they officially have to hand them over to the nursing faculty.
Glad to find this page :)! I am also applying for Fall 2014. I applied to the Elmsn program at SMU and was waitlisted, unfortunately. My Teas are 92.7% and in regards to GPA, I totally don't even know how to start calculating considering I have such a mix if semester and quarter units. Hate the waiting game, hope to find out soon and good luck to us all!

I also had a really hard time staying within 300 words and I don't really feel like it was enough to get my points across. I'm kinda wondering if previous years had a larger word limit. It is a lot of writing samples for them to be read after all...
