Published

Hey All,

I am going to be a new grad and would apppreciate it if anyone can send me a sample resume and cover letter. I had a degree in Computer Science so my current resume is more like the engr resume. Looking @ applying for a job in Nashville.

Just send it to me as a personal message.... Thanks a lot.

i got a copy of "anatomy of a Job Search: a nurses's guide to finding and landing the job you want" at the nsna convention. it is a great resource!! it has sample cover letters and resumes as well as interviewing tips!

Thanks for the tips, I will work on it this weekend and see what I can do...Thanks Meloney!!!! I will do as you say..it does make sense to put just a bit of my past experience and everything ends up to the same basics as nursing.

i am a new grad and licensed registered nurse. do you guys know what is the format for resume having no experience only clinical rotations during duties at school. please help me and send me a copy of sample resume..thank you so much..hoping for your kind response.

Dear XXX,

I am writing to inquire for a possible employment as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in your facility. I graduated last April in XXX and just passed my NCLEX last August.

I believe I would make a positive addition to your nursing staff. Though I don't have experience working in a nursing field before, working as a hotel concierge for the past 2 years, I have learned to adapt quickly, make quick decisions, anticipate the needs of our guests and provide a good customer service. Aside from that I am a quick learner and a very hardworking person.

Thank you for taking time to review my resume. I am looking forward to meeting you soon to discuss possible employment. I will be avalable for an interview at your convenience and may be reach at XXX-XXXXXX. I look forward hearing from you.

Sincerely,

XXX

Please if anyone can suggest to make it better, please post it asap.. thanks;-)

My suggestions:

Don't give them reasons not to hire you, i.e. delete the "though I don't have any nursing experience." You DO have nursing experience (you got through all those clinicals, right?). So instead highlight how those experiences will benefit them. But do leave in the part about the skills you learned from your prior career and how they will help you in nursing.

Also I would change "last April" and "last August" to April 2007 (or if it was 2006). It's kind of ambiguous to the reader if you just passed the NCLEX last month or last year (if they think you meant last year they may be wondering what you've been doing if not nursing).

Thanks arcidee.. really appreciate it.. i revised it already, i added the nursing experiences i had during our clinical...

Thanks again;-)
