I have applied to Samford and I am already accepted into another FNP program. Still waiting to hear back from Samford. I always look at different FNP program's curriculum... I noticed Samford's program requires students to take Advanced Health Assessment, Advanced Pathophysiology and Physiology AND Advanced Pharmacology all together and in the first semester as it seems most schools separate those classes. Hopefully previous students can shed some light on how it is possible to cover a wealth of info in just one semester. Did it seem like a
weed-out semester? Were study groups your saving grace? What kind of support did you recieve from the instructors? When you start grad school, you want tomake sure you are making a good investment so any insight previous students can provide would be greatly appreciated!

I applied to Samford's fall FNP program too. My BSN is still in progress and I won't have my degree until August, so I'm not overly confident that I'll get accepted this time around. Do you know when decisions will be sent out?

Hey,
I applied to Samford as well. One of the assistants, Crystal, said they board will start reviewing May 1. Thats crazy because other schools have deadlines of May 1 to get back to them with decisions.
Alisha & Blessed Nurs, I called Friday April 8 and the information I recieved was they will begin reviewing in 2 weeks.

Hi, I am on my 2nd semester. First semester as you said we took Patho, Pharm and Phy Assess together (9 credits) - Not easy but--totally doable. I don't think it was a weed-out semester as faculty went out of their way to help us make it. I worked PT but plenty of people worked FT. No study groups. No weekly discussions. The classes are set up for you to succeed. They will send you a link for power points, audio/mp3 or video/mp4 that you can watch from home and a study guide for you to fill in questions as you listen - then you will take a quiz on that particular material. There are proctored exams that are fair -- and you will do well if you have study their ppt, audio and study guide. Yes, this is a LOT to cover in one semester to prepare you for clinicals --hard but doable.
Thank you for your response!
