Has anyone applied to Samford University Online FNP Fall 2016 Program? Can you share what you have heard about the program, first semester course work load (3 advance courses), and overall input, guidance, and or advice you have been given in order to successfully complete the program.
If you already graduated from Samford Online FNP, tell us about your overall experience, student loans opportunities, total cost of the program, graduation rate as per your own class experience, preparation for Board Exam, and if you found "entry level FNP career opportunity" or not after graduation.
Thank you for your responses, input, and guidance.
Note: You may select multiple choices (if applicable) in the attached "Poll".
I applied maybe a week before the deadline? I do t remember exactly. I do know that I submitted my video interview the day it was due, rather than early because it was my long week at work. Respond by May 13 (email), deposit is due May 15. Official admissions packets will be emailed June 25 and orientation is scheduled for August 23-25.
Oh, the only give less than a week to respond and pay the deposit. It reminds me of when I went to purchase a car. The dealership was so eager for me to sign the contract and give the down payment. I decided to walk away, and within two weeks thereafter, I found the same car in another dealership but with a lower interest rate, thus saving thousands, and no down payment had to be given. When it comes to education and dishing out $40K dollars on top of having to find our own clinical sites; believe me, I will take time to look at all options, pray about it, and then make a final termination. Most of the time when we rush into things, we make mistakes and do not see any other opportunities. Some of us as well as probably thousands more throughout, have applied to multiple programs. Soon, it will be time to make a final decision where are we going to invest our money, time, and effort. God's time is always perfect, but not our time.
Does anyone knows if Financial Aid would speak to us after receiving the acceptance email, prior to the reply deadline, and prior to us giving the required nonrefundable deposit? I would love to know about the loans they have available because some loans requires a cosigner if our credit is not 700. Like in my personal situation, I only qualified for a $20K dollars Department of Education Loan per year. I would have to find a cosigner for a private student loan for the other $20K. This is regardless of what program I attend, considering the average cost of MSN-FNP of $40K.
Congratulations once again! Please share with us how much was the deposit? Were you able to speak to FA prior to accepting to ascertain if loans will be made available without the need of co-signer? If not, by when would you find out what loans are available and whether or not it will cover the program costs, books, etc. NOTE: for everyone on this site, we do not use our real names in this forum. Thanks a bunch!
The deposit was $750, which was listed in the admissions data on the application. I'm in the MSN-FNP track for Fall 2016. When I received my portal login, I could access what financial aid would be available to me, which included the max amount of loans I qualified for per my FAFSA. I have some connections through the hospital I work at for clinical sites... Which I hope work out. I've read that Samford will supply us with a list of potential preceptors should we need them. 🤗

Hello NursingNerd1: Did Samford gave you x amount of time to reply, accept, and or provide the amount of money they required (i.e. enrollment fee) which is not refundable? What is the deadline? Just to ascertain waiting time period for a response, by what date you applied? My decision will be based on which program has the best reputation, costs, and whether or not they provide clinical sites / preceptors; however, in the even they do not as in Samford, I would like to know if they will assist in finding clinical sites or not if one cannot find a single plce available for Family Practice in their own city.
