Sam Houston State - Spring 2020

Published

I haven't seen any threads regarding applications to SHSU for spring 2020 so I decided to make one to get in touch with other people!

I currently have:

3.5 overall gpa

3.7 nursing gpa

and I am hoping to score at least an 82% on my TEAS as I have been consistently scoring around that on practice exams. What are y'alls stats?

Hello! I probably have no chance but I’m going to apply anyway.

My stats are:

3.2 Overall gpa

3.2 Nursing gpa

Reading: 70%

Math: 78%

And I have 3 years of CNA experience

I bet the CNA experience will help your chances a lot! I ended up with a 96.9 on the Math and a 91.7 on the Reading. I’m really hoping I get in!

Hello everyone!

I don't have a final gpa yet because I am waiting for some grades to come in. However, I got an 84.4 on the math and a 76.6 on the reading but I do plan on retaking the test to get a higher score.. ???

Hello! I’m thinking of applying to SHSU for the Spring 2020 semester as a backup to my main choice. Do they only look at Math and Reading sections of Teas?

Nursing core GPA: 3.72

Pre-req GPA: 3.77

Math: 87.5%

Reading: 80.9%

no cna

is this enough to get accepted? What are the average #’s that end up getting accepted? Thanks(: &sorry for so many questions lol.

I’m pretty sure they look at all areas of the TEAS but on their website it says they take Reading and Math most into consideration.

Quote

“Minimum TEAS scores are below. Using past data, competitive GPA is around 3.6 and competitive scores for TEAS Reading 85 and Math 95, however, that could change with each applicant pool. We accepted 95 out of 350 applicants.”

This is what the nursing advisor emailed me.

Sounds about right, I really hope I get in! I’ve been so stressed about my scores and stuff. Hopefully decisions don’t take too long.

Hi! I'm applying for Spring 2020 at SHSU as well. Wishing everyone here the best of luck. Here are my stats:

Overall GPA: 3.89

Nursing GPA: 3.84

Math TEAS: 93.8%

Reading TEAS: 83.0%

Overall TEAS: 82%

When I went for an information session, the advisor told us they usually select people with ranges of 80-85 in Reading, and 90-95 in Math and it varies depending on the applicant pool. However, as we know, there are special preferences for those who took classes at SHSU and have cna experience and such, and I have none. I'm thinking of taking the TEAS again very soon to aim higher. I'm really hoping to get in, fingers crossed. Do we just post our TEAS report in NursingCas or do we have to send it to the school as well?

Hey guys! So I've already applied for spring 2020. I hope I get in! Here are my stats:

Overall GPA: 3.55

Nursing GPA: 3.43

Math TEAS:96.9%

Reading TEAS: 85.1%

Overall TEAS:82.7%

Does anyone know around when acceptance and denial letters go out?

My friend called yesterday and she was told mid-October.
