Anyone applying to the New accelerated nursing program at Salem state this upcoming may?
Hello! So far, I've had a positive experience with SSU--we had orientation this past weekend and everyone has been really nice and helpful. My undergrad GPA was 3.80 and my prereqs GPA was like 3.5ish. Put a lot of effort into your essay, its what will make you stand out the most. This year they had 250+ applicants and accepted 24.
I completely agree! Everyone has different goals, and I think asking for so many opinions throughout the decision-making process has led to ultimate confusion on my end. My gut feeling about my own purpose became clouded with fears. Ultimately, I know that I want to become a psychiatric NP, which differs in many ways from the standard RN role in a hospital. MGH provides great clinical placements and the staff assured me at the info session that none of their students have difficulty with job placement, because of the networking through these placements. I am not interested in being a floor nurse and for me, the time-efficiency of MGH's program will matter. Good luck to everyone who attends Salem State's program! I may see some of you for a summer class or two, in an attempt to transfer some credits to MGH before the semester begins!
I got into the MGH psych track too for this Fall! You're the first person I've seen on this site going to MGH for the same track . Anyways I just heard that MGH may not take transfer credits anymore for things such as pathophysiology, but I'm not 100% sure.
For those of you wondering/planning on applying next year I had a 3.2 undergrad GPA and a 3.9 pre-reqs GPA. Some of my background: MGH ED Pediatrics and APS volunteer, 3 years of psychology research, few years experience working as a Vet tech, and I was very involved on campus as an undergrad (lots of leadership roles). Also, mediocre GRE scores. They definitely take everything into consideration when you apply. I know people in the program with 2.5 gpas and barely any experience. Everyone has very diverse backgrounds so it's hard to try to compare yourself to those who were accepted.
I applied to Salem state university Accelerated BSN, that will start in May 2017, and I got accepted. Is there anyone who got in?
