i just checked salary.com and they stated the mean salary is 67,000 and in NY you will make atleast 74k i already knew this information before. But i just wanted to know if the salaries increase because of Obama or if salary.com is just updating their site.

What does Obama have to do with anything?
And salary.com is not all that accurate.
The other issue is the salary isn't that important...if you can't get a job after you graduate.

Nursing salaries are different, depending on regional cost of living economics. They can vary from $40K to 100K for what some would say is essentially the same work. Also, this can depend upon experience, employer competition and having a unionized milieu or not. That said, there really hasn't been any nursing salary increases (or decreases for that matter) attributed to the recent health care overhaul. The overall look for nursing opportunity is generally considered good, though again, subject to local pressures.
As for New York, if you looked at Salary.com's nursing pages, you'll find that median salary is between 70-85K per year (I figure ~ 77K). They also have other variables to toss into that calculation if you want to narrow it down:

That figure (which sounds high) for NY must be for a nurse working nights in the city. The salary has nothing to do with Obama, its the cost of living in NY that keeps the salaries up. Don't believe everything you read!
so true you can live well off 70,000 in an apartment even in ny as long as its not manhatten
