Hello all!

So I have been going through the interview process with Genex. I was asked to submit an email with my salary requirement!!! I've never done that! Lol :-/. Wanted some advice, maybe someone has a good idea of what a starting case manager, without much experience, would make with this company?

Thank you!!

I have run the salary for my location a few times to find a wide range of 52-70K. I'm obviously wanting to give a small range and honestly am very stumped on what that should be! I was hoping for some more insight!!!

They also show a bell curve. Would you be comfortable asking for whats posted at the midpoint?

When I was a new CM, I asked the HR recruiter what the salary range was for the company. If that person is the one asking you your preferences, you can still ask him/her this question.

Keep in mind that if you are new, most companies do not want to pay you the same as a CM with experience. Therefore whatever the low range is on their pay scale, look at that as being what that company is willing to pay. Once you have experience in Nursing Case Management (and you have developed a good reputation for saving money while advocating for patients), you will then have leverage for a raise or a new better paying job. Good Luck.

Hello MBARNBSN,

Is it appropriate to ask salary range BEFORE being interviewed / getting an offer? I am only in the inquiry stage and haven't yet applied for positions but, if appropriate, would like to know the range before taking the time to apply. I'm an ADN with nearly six years of experience in pediatric critical care, forensics and operating room................. Your feedback will be appreciated. Thanks!!!!

Hello MBARNBSN,

Is it appropriate to ask salary range BEFORE being interviewed / getting an offer?

Yes. The best person to ask is the HR recruiter for the position. In fact, this is a good idea because most bedside nurses find that when he/she becomes a new CM, he/she will be taking a cut in pay even if he/she works the same or more hours per week compared to his/her bedside nursing position. Good luck.
