I echo the above responses. As well, ask realistically how many hours a week on average do you expect to be working. I'm a fairly new NP with a year and a half of experience. I remember my first job interview quoted me 85K a year (i work in the southern states). However, I soon realized with the hospital rounding, being on call, etc. that I would be working some 45 to 50+ hours a week. Dividing the salary by the hours the wage was less than what I was making as a floor RN (much less if you factor in overtime) so I rejected it.
3 year contract seems rather steep. I told my current employer in which I signed a one year contract with that "the contract is to protect you, not me. The point of me signing the contract is that I'm happy with the compensation" I brought up xyz that I wanted to be changed in the compensation and we negotiated from there. Make sure you're happy with the job and compensation before signing a 3 year contract.

Hi all,
I am currently working per diem in a clinic and full time RN in a hospital in a new york city area, now my boss is offering me 100000k base salary, 3 years contract, after two years, will have incentive bonuses based on productivity. He also offers 2 weeks of vacation, 1 week CME, 2 sick days, 8 holidays, dental, medical, malpractice insurance and 401k. we see almost 80- 90 patients every day. I am currently working as an RN, with 6 years of acute experience, making $50 an hour. I can easily make it if I pick up OT. But after a while just feel sick of on my feet all day. Initially I thought it was a good offer, I verbally accepted it, but haven't signed contract yet. I never learned how to negotiate because my job has always been a unionized job. I am thinking to quit my current RN job and start my new NP career, Just wanted to see what you guys think. Would you still negotiate and ask for a higher base salary? 3 years contract is a long commitment ... he said the physicians contract there is 5 year. The doctor is very passionate to train new staffs and the physicians and staffs do stay and work for him for over 10 years.
