Anyone accepted for the Fall 2008 semester? I just got my acceptance letter!!! Yay!!! :)
How far in the semester do we start clinicals? And when should we expect to hear from the school again? I'm so anxious lol... O nd wat about uniforms?
FUNDAMENTALS: the first half you are in class and skills lab with the whole class. towards the the last seven weeks the class is broken into ABCD groups and you clinically rotate with your group on the day you would normally have skills, either tues or thurs. youll prob here from them a week before you start,lol..for me, i heard and then had orientation and first day of classes all in the same week...uniforms you have to purchase. the school will tell you were to getem( theres only one store they are overpriced, and the uniforms are horrid colors) white bottoms blue pinstripe tops..uglier for the ladies heheheh..:chuckle

O no! lol (re: uniforms)... Do we wear them every day? do we get to wear scrubs for clinicals?
When should we expect to hear from financial aid?
yes the program is still four semsters for me(2yrs) without the breaks its more like 14 months lol.. yes i came in with nothing, first semester i took five classes 18creds it is doable but harder. basically it will be your whole life, inclass 4-5 days. the first semester you will have fundamentals and you will go to clinicals at either mary immaculate in queens or st johns once a week. ontop of that,dsage calc class 1hr and your theraputic interactions class 3hours. you will have to take A&P I and psch I . next semester you will take med/surg I wich has two clinical days per week plus your human growth and A&P II.LUCKLY, I work three 12 hour shifts at mount sinai friday,saturday and sunday overnight so the only days that are stresful are monday morningsand friday evenings( no sleep )
it will be the hardest thing you have ever done, BUT IT IS DO-ABLE!
keep the questions coming i dont mind....
so those that mean u had a class a day, and a clinical....
Ex: Mon = Fundamentals
Tues= Dosage calc
Wed= AP1 / clinical....and so on
so a school day is from like 9-5?
Have u took med/surg yet? what is that course all about...i just hear its hard...why? whens ur expected graduation?
if you are starting in september i am only one semester ahead of you..med/surg starts 2nd semester..med/surg is the meat and patatoes of nursing school..in fundamentals you learn the basics(vital sighns patient assesment, medication adminitration, iv,foley,enema, bedmaking and some pathophsiology) med/surg is broken into two semesters its basiclly A&P for all the disease processes and interventions..its hard because its everything medical.... i graduate 09
my week was as follows:so those that mean u had a class a day, and a clinical....Ex: Mon = Fundamentals
Tues= Dosage calc
Wed= AP1 / clinical....and so on
so a school day is from like 9-5?
monday 4-10pm dosage calc and fundamentals lecture
tues 4-10 first half semester lab 5-8 or 9...second have semester was in clinicals 3-11pm
wednsday 4-10 theraputic interactions and A&PI lecture
thursday 4-10 skills lab then Psych I
friday A&P lab 4-8
sat& sun spent studying at work when possible for the many quizess, exams and careplans for your patients at clinical
so how was AP 1 and 2 for you...im just feeling a lil ify about those 2....but i do hope its taught on our campus. do u have to wear the uniform everyday?
i took A&P I if the same doctor teaches it to teach you, you will do fine(no really it was a breeze, 100 times less than C.U.N.Y A&P) uniform only at clinical.. and financial aid happens when you start...lol there were a few of us who didnt get our loans until a week before semester end
