Now ow it depends on how nice you want your place to be and where you want to be located. I live in the uptown area and it's about 1,100 - 1,200 for a decent sized 1BR/Bath apt. Downtown especially in the warehouse district is going to be mostly lofts and more expensive. There are plenty of nice places to live. Bloomington and Richfield are fairly close to campus and have good apartments for a reasonable price. From what I've gathered from friends, you get more bang for your buck at those areas. Now a friend of line lives literally 3 blocks from school and pays like 900 a month for a nice ass 1 BR apt, the only problem is that it's in a very heavily saturated Somali community. Yes if you didn't know MN is home to the highest Somali population outside of Somalia. I came about the same time you are planning to I order to look for places to live. Funny, I didn't even end up living in any of the places I looked at. Remember because you won't be working you will not have a source of income unless you have a wife/SO that will be working. If you don't, it would be a good idea if they take a guarantor on the lease otherwise you're going to have a hard time finding a place to work. If you have any specific questions PM me. Overall MN is. A fun city, it has definitely grown on me and I'm going to miss it when I leave to go home.

Oh ok great. ...I don't mind. ...I just need a peaceful place to stay. ..not fancy tho lol....because like u said we will not be working while in school.

I was also accepted into the program for this next year. I currently live in Burnsville( almost in Eagan), MN (about 20 minutes away from campus). As noted in the previous post, housing is more expensive downtown Minneapolis. Technically, the school is not in the downtown area, but more south Minneapolis. Traffic can be pretty bad if you have to take 494 or 94 for a long time, 35 can get backed up during rush hour as well. Lake Nokomis, Edina, Uptown areas are very nice, however once again very costly. Personally if I were moving from out of state, I would look into Eagan (close to Hwy 77- one of the best commutes to the city), west bloomington, or St Louis Park (really nice, but the 394 commute can get pretty bad).

Keep in mind, you will be traveling all over for clinicals. That being said, the entire first year is didactic, so you can plan to be at the school location most of the time the first year. I would avoid living north of the cities, as you would have worse traffic then coming from the south. My friend used to live near fort snelling/ the mendota heights area, and she had a very quick commute to the cities.

Hope that helps!

So are there no clinicals in the first year? If so; I think I might be able to work part time before start of clinicals

Da Milk of Amnesia; given your experience so far, will you say it is possible to work before clinicals start?

Maybe a little bit in the first semester but after that I would not recommend it. I mean I worked for an agency during school and probably worked like 10 shifts in the 2 years Ive been out here. But then again I didn't really need to work because I saved enough money before starting school. I mean you can probably work in the second and third semesters, I did a few time but I didn't make a habit of it.

Thanks for the info Da Milk.

FYI; there is a complete class list of 2018 on blackboard, 34 of us. Couple student from the Dakotas and WI. Anyone interested in a FB group?

Took couple of graduate level classes and have two bachelor's degrees. CCRN, TNCC, PALS certified. Any advice or suggestions from those who got accepted of how to make myself stand out among other qualified applicants :) Any advice would be appreciated!! [/COLOR]
