Hi all. I would like to ask if anyone knows how is St. Francis Memorial Hospital's (in San Francisco) NewGrad training program is. I was told by the recruiter that the program is a 4 week training program but flexible. I don't know if that is enough for me. It has been almost 4 years since I graduated from nursing school and I have not worked as an RN so I have no experience. I have devoted the last 4 years to taking care of my father who got cancer (he was diagnosed when I was in nursing school) .
I just recently passed the Nclex (Thank you God) and now ready and eager to work as an new RN however I am nervous-- Nervous if i can handle it. I have been working as a patient care assistant at another hospital for the last year.
Has anyone in here ever worked at St. Francis Memorial Hospital and/or know how it is to work there? How are the staff?? and How is their NewGrad program--is it good or bad?? Do you think 4 weeks is enough for me?? I have been reviewing my old nsg notes and going to Borders reading up on assessment books, med/surg, IV techniques....etc.....trying to prepare.
I am sorry for this post being long and Thank you for your time and help. God Bless you all.

I don't know about that hospital but if that 4 weeks is strictly classroom, then that's probably okay. What's important is how long you will be with a preceptor actually doing the job. Where I work, eight weeks precepting is usually the norm for a new grad (which technically, you are).
Good Luck!
