Saddleback Nursing Fall 2021

Published

Hi everyone!

I'm applying for Saddleback for the first time with 83 points and its been so challenging since COVID. I wanted to create a place all applicants could talk and maybe help one another out!

Stay safe y'all!

Hello Everyone! Congratulations to everyone that was accepted! I was accepted into Saddleback! ? It sounds like the points were very high this semester!

Congratulations! Can we ask what your points were?

If I calculated correctly I believe I had about 90 points

Hey everyone I got my letter. I ended up getting rejected. For reference I had 82 points. I will be going to Golden West since I don’t want to reapply to Saddleback. That is one less application for next semester LOL.

For those that have been accepted maybe we’ll see each other at clinical! I heard some sites are the same. And for those who didn’t get in, reapplying and getting more points is the best bet. I’ve been trying to get into nursing school since 2019 and I’m finally starting in 2021 ?. Congrats to those accepted and best of luck to everyone reapplying or waiting on other schools!

Congrats on goldenwest! Can I ask what you did to boost your application and get more points? Was it just by taking more classes? I was denied everywhere this year so guess I will reapply next year with hopefully more points

I am getting nervous. I have not applied yet and am planning to in February and if I am lucky, I'll be applying with an 83. Can I ask if it's not too personal how most of those accepted with higher than 83, how your points are so high! Are most accepted this term having a bachelors degree and 8-15 points towards the work experience? I'm getting discouraged and think that I will have to find a way to boost my points and re-apply again next fall 2021 for Spring 2022.

I finished all the relevant courses! So pharmacology, psychology, the life cycle courses, communications, and a math class. Santa Ana has a lot of extra classes from what I remember doing the application. Golden West has an Intro to Nursing but only gets you +1 point.

@MamaMoose For me, it's my first application to nursing program and I applied with 90 points, per my calculation. The majority of my points came from the TEAS-- my score was 87.3, which gave me 25 points, I think. Then I got all As on Bio Prerequisites (30 Points total), and yeah, 1000+ hours work experience as a CNA gave me 15 more points. I also finished all the relevant courses except for Pharmacology (so, less 5 points for me). I also don't have any degree yet.

If you can boost your points then that would be helpful, but I would say, just keep applying because you never know. Good luck! You can do this!

@kkypaa Did you hear from Saddleback yet? The website got updated saying that "ALL letters have been sent out as of 12/2/2020. If you did not received your letter, email [email protected]. No later than Monday, December 7th."

Hope you figure it out. Good luck!

Hello All.  Not sure if this is helpful, but website was updated.  Cutoff point was 85, with some alternates at 83.

Wow that is a wild jump in points. Hope it gets more reasonable once COVID is under control.

Do you guys think the points jumped so high because there are fewer slots available for clinicals due to COVID?

My counselor said they lost clinical sites due to private schools coming in and essentially paying the hospitals for their clinical sites ? they are doing whatever they can to get more sites even at hospitals they saw as “less desirable previously”

@MamaMoose that could be...but ------------------------- and the other nursing admins also mentioned that the Spring 2021 cohorts were also the most competitive cohorts in Saddleback Nursing history based on multi-criteria points. I think, it's because everyone was trying to get as much points as possible (e.g. work experience, all prereqs, etc.).
