Hi everyone! Is anyone applying to Saddleback College's nursing program for spring 2018? I just calculated my points according to their multi-criteria sheet and I have the following:
15 points - 2300 hours EMT work experience
30 points - 4.0 science GPA
25 points - TEAS score
3 points - psychology 1
3 points - math course
3 points - speech course
3 points - life experience
82 points total
What are my chances of being accepted? I won't be able to enroll in pharmacology or the life cycle courses before the deadline.
I also have 72 points! Possibly 74 if they accept my high school language. Good luck to everyone!
@MusicEMT they mail out letters November 15th and then on the receipt they gave us from turning in the application it says there's a paperwork session in November and there's an orientation in December. Both are mandatory but I would think the orientation would be before finals.
November 15th seems like a million years away :'(
anyway, has anyone looked at the RN-BSN collaborative they have with Fullerton and other universities? I'm really interested in this and haven't found much info on it besides whats online and none of the other threads mention it... anyone have any insight on this?
Hi everyone, I'm first semester currently and I got into the program with 72 points. Just wanted to wish you luck! For those of you who don't know of anyone who has been in the program, I wanted to say that so far I've only had great experiences with the instructors. They are amazing-very smart and supportive. I couldn't have asked for a better clinical instructor and the schedule is kind of crazy, but having great classmates and instructors make the adjustment so much easier. I wanted to say that in case anyone was curious about what the program is like, because before I began the program I didn't know much about it, just that Saddleback is good.
@futurernjen They give you a list of RN-BSN programs on orientation day and there were some flyers I was able to take home as well. I'm sure you can ask them more about it then.
Hello everyone,
I am new to this site and this is my first time posting.
I applied for spring 2018. I turned in my application on September 13. I calculated my points to be 74, but hopefully a little more if they accept my developmental psych class for the lifecycle class credit.
Excited to talk with everyone on here and hopefully we all make it in together
@lamienna I'm sorry for being slow to reply. The schedule is different week-to-week. For the first 3 weeks, every week you have 2 full days of skills lab and 5 hours of lecture. Then your weeks change to 1 clinical day (but you also spend pretty much all of the day before doing your preclinical) and the lecture. While that is going on, there are additional courses/sessions/simulation days you need to attend. You really have to be on top of your calendar so you don't miss something and there is usually prep work to do before you go to that particular session. When we received the semester schedule it looked really crazy and took a lot of time for me to go through my calendar and write down the dates, times, and locations. Sometimes the dates/times change and sometimes they don't announce the locations until later so you need to be aware the whole time. It seems overwhelming at first, but it's manageable if you pay attention and the instructors do try to remind you when something is coming up.
Time management and organization are key, as the instructors and anyone in the program will tell you. My advice would be to be friendly and supportive of your classmates. It's really stressful and I don't know what I would do if I didn't get along with and have the support of the friends I've made in the program. It makes waking up and getting through the long day a little easier and a little more enjoyable.
So...just got my acceptance letter in the mail (I live in Costa Mesa so it didn't have far to travel)...still has not sunk in yet. I'm really excited to meet everyone in the program and start off on this journey together. I'll be attending the November 21st paperwork session from 1:00pm-2:00pm (the other option is November 29th from 9:30am-10:30am. Good luck to everyone else on this thread, we'll be looking forward to sleepless nights in the near future;)

I also applied! If I calculated my points correctly, I have 72 points. I also have heard 70+ points is pretty much a guarantee. So hopefully that will be true :)
Question though: does anyone know when the paperwork and stuff will happen after we find out? I am planning on going to vacation around December 14th- Jan 6th. I just hope Ill be able to get everything done before i leave
