I would appreciate knowledge about the rn job availability in the sacramento area. i plan to relocate there this summer, prob around august. at that time i will have 2 yrs med-surg experience...i've been working at a smaller hospital in far northern california. i also have ACLS, a little cross training in tele, a little experience with giving chemo. i'm pretty done with med-surg, although if thats all i can get, i'd take it. I'm thinking more like an outpatient infusion center...Idk really.. just seeking ideas on what my chances might be. how affordable, or not, rent is in sac area. i know i like the area, diversity, and lotsa recreation around. thank you in advance for any input...

Check UC Davis www.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu , Sutter www.sutterhealth.org , Mercy/Methodist (Catholic Hospitals West) www.chwcareers.org . There are quite a few jobs, depending on what field you want to enter. Since you have experience, you shouldn't have a horrible time finding a place to work. Best of luck.

For rent, check craigslist. Midtown/east Sac is more expensive but walkable/bikeable. Diversity is improving, but nothing like SF. If you like bike riding, the bike path is awesome. The American River is about 45 minutes away by car. SF is 1.5 hours away, as is Tahoe. Yosemite is about 2.5-3 hours away.
