U.S. R.N. with associates degree contemplating austrailia
Hello. I am a registered nurse in california. i am approaching 2 yrs of med-surg experience. i have an associates degree. i am interested in international nursing. i'd love to live somewhere out of the states for awhile. any possibility i could find employment in australia with only my associates? if so, how should i begin the process? what are the best locations in austrailia i might consider? what is the job market like, are there jobs to be had? cost of living vs. wages? i would very much appreciate any input i can get. thank u in advance. one more question...besides austrailia, is anyone familiar with any other countries that might take an rn with only an associates degree?

sacramento /surrounding areas...jobs?
I would appreciate knowledge about the rn job availability in the sacramento area. i plan to relocate there this summer, prob around august. at that time i will have 2 yrs med-surg experience...i've been working at a smaller hospital in far northern california. i also have ACLS, a little cross training in tele, a little experience with giving chemo. i'm pretty done with med-surg, although if thats all i can get, i'd take it. I'm thinking more like an outpatient infusion center...Idk really. . just seeking ideas on what my chances might be. how affordable, or not, rent is in sac area. i know i like the area, diversity, and lotsa recreation around. thank you in advance for any input...

how about working in a cardiologists office as an RN?
Tash, thx for the reply. I am still waiting as well. I haven't officially been given the position yet. with the holidays, plus this particular office is going through some m.d. changes, i'm not at the top of the priority list. i should know just after 1st of the yr. the other staff i've talked to seem to think i've got the job. i'll repost when i know. good luck with your position. i'd likewise like to know how u like it. Matt.

how about working in a cardiologists office as an RN?
i have about 1.5 yrs experience med-surg nursing in northern ca. i may soon start a job in a local cardiology office, just as a relief rn. fill in for the primary rn when she's sick or on vacation. sounds like the job is pretty basic, help md with stress tests mostly, pushing meds, taking bp's, monitoring pts. i love cardiac, and have a cardiac dysrhythmia history of my own so i'm pretty sure i'll like it. i'd like to know: others out there who work primarily in a cardiologists office? good pay? do you work 5 eights?, 4 tens? opportunities in larger cities for a position like this? i live in a small community. just trying to pick brains. this is only a fill in position for me, but it opens the door to a future job in similar setting, i'm thinking. it seems this would be a fairly low stress, (w exception of occassional code, i'm sure) area of nursing...because after 1.5 yrs of med-surg, i could go for low stress!! any input would be appreciated.

outpatient dialysis RN...a good starting job for new grad?
Just hoping for some advice from the experienced vets out there. i graduate in may and am considering seeking an outpatient dialysis job. my mother passed away too young from renal failure, so it draws me for that reason, as well as the fact i'd like to have a somewhat low stress job. my concern is losing my knowledge/skills i gained from nursing school. will i have a problem moving to another specialty later on if dialysis nursing is all i know? how is this field...alot of people love the job? stress levels? thanks in advance.

new grad interested in outpatient infusion
thanks for the response. this sounds intimidating from a new grads point of view though. it sounds like it will be no easy feat. what are the backgounds of most infusion nurses? lots of med-surg first? how does everybody get started in infusion?

new grad interested in outpatient infusion
i'll graduate in may with an ADN in northern CA. i've done some clinical time at an outpatient chemo infusion office, and loved it. anything i need to know to help me get hired as a new grad...is it even possible for a new grad to get a spot like this? it seemed to be lots, and lots of iv's, mixing and administering chemo, and pt. assessing. should i start somewhere like a bloodbank type setting to get the iv experience? i really don't want to do med-surg either. any advice? anyone work as an infusion R.N.? thanks.
