Sacramento State Spring 2024

Published

Hey everyone! I wanted to start the thread for the Spring 2024 applicants for Sacramento State's BSN program. It's pretty early but it might be helpful to be able to talk to each other during the application process.

Hi! Just found this thread. I am applying with 75 points, but I'm super nervous still and not too confident with that score :(

I think you're prob fine, last two cycles the cutoff was 70 points and the highest it's ever gone was 73 due to COVID

Hi everyone,

I am currently a third semester nursing student who used this platform when applying to the program. The process can be stressful and confusing at times so let me know if you have any questions!

Heyy, how many days per week did you have class or clinical ?
Any general study tips, some common mistakes LOL?

@tennis10 can you give some expectations or maybe some advice during your first sem like how the exams look like? clinicals? the HESI exam? I heard a lot of comments that the first and second sem are brutal. I am scared haha. I applied with 77pts by the way

@Den Denz I would say that first semester exams focus on situation-specific questions. Studying and memorizing class material can provide a good foundation, but I would say students excel when they are able to apply the material to the situation being presented.

For clinicals, I believe you would start some time during Week 4 or 5 of the semester. Expectations are universal whether you are placed at UC Davis, Sutter, Kaiser, etc. Get to clinical early, put effort into clinical packets/assignments, and ask questions.

The HESI exam is a hit or miss for students at times. I believe the first semester HESI exam pulls from a more general bank of knowledge, so some concepts may be unfamiliar if not covered in-class or through assignments.

For general advice, be prepared to go through a lot of material the first month of class. Along with lecture, you are learning new skills in lab and finding a way to study for exams. With that said, there is always time for self care and mentorship so please reach out to any nursing student from any semester. I recommend joining CNSA and/or MIN to explore resources and get insight from those who have gone through first semester already! Reach out to [email protected] if you have any other questions.

@Ansh If you are placed in an even section, you will usually have class/clinical Monday-Thursday with Friday off. If you are placed in an odd section, you will usually have class/clinical Monday & Wednesday-Friday with Tuesday off.

For study tips, I would recommended making study guides built off of classes PowerPoints with unclear topics explored in the textbook. With a lot of assignments and activities through the first semester of school, I recommend being organized with reminders of due dates. I use Google Calendar to remind me of assignments with differing due dates and times. If you have any other questions, you can email [email protected]

yup, fingers crossed!

Intent to enroll for the university is due midnight tonight, but we don't expect to hear back from the program until tomorrow. Is anyone submitting their ITE tonight before hearing from nursing admissions?

You will want to put in your ITE on time. If you don't and get accepted to the nursing program you will not be able to attend. It is free, no charge. You can always change it later if you don't get accepted to the nursing program. I know someone who got accepted to the program but didn't do the ITE and was not able to do the program

Goodluck everyone! Hoping we hear back before 5pm

sac state are out! I got in with 77. hope to see and meet you all ?
