Sac State 2016

Published

Hey all! I know it is a little early, but I am just finishing up my application for Sac State for fall 2016! Would love to meet some fellow applicants!

It is actually a requirement that you buy all of your books as ebooks so that you have them with you at all times. Physical copies of the books are not required but are very helpful as it can be cumbersome to navigate through the ebooks at times.

Hello classmates :) I just wanted to leave a friendly PSA for everyone. There are some requirements that need to be addressed by June 3rd. Like, in 4 days. You have time to take care of them within a few hours (the things that are immediately due), but I am not sure I would have jumped on it if I hadn't looked at that paper by chance today. Also, for those of you who need CPR (you need Basic Life Support, not AED like normal people/lifeguards get), there are classes offered through Sac State over the summer, but apparently they fill it fast. The link is in the Pre-Entry Checklist for you. Those are just some of my thoughts and friendly reminders because I almost missed these things! Good luck and looking forward to meeting you all. :)

I haven't gotten my email with the link for the checklist!! I've checked my spam folder and everything! I'll double check on my computer, maybe I accidentally deleted it. Thanks for the PSA!@

Heya Dez, there's quite a few things you have to do. Teri emailed us all the link to the website with all the links. Here it is: BSN Orientation

Make sure to create your CastleBranch account!

Does anyone know if we are required to carry our own separate health insurance throughout the program.

Congrats to everyone, and I look forward to meeting you all. Is anyone else planning on commuting to Sac, or are most living near to CSUS? Just curious..

I'm commuting, sigh....cheaper than staying at a dorm though!

Same here :/ Hoping I can find somewhere(maybe a studio off campus?) to stay in the area 1-2 nights a week if I can afford it. Not that we aren't going to be super tired anyways. Where are you commuting from?

I live in Elk Grove so I will commute, but it will take less than half an hour.

Hey guys, just another PSA about the Healthstream Training Modules.

I had the chance to meet a few classmates at CPR training, and it was shared that several of us were not able to access the modules u

sing the directions given in the "I Made It" Healthstream link. When I went to complete mine, I ignored the Web Browser incompatibility thing and proceeded to use Google Chrome. As long as you allow pop-ups, it should work just fine.

Welcome to HealthStream

To find the modules we need, just go to the catalog tab and find the search bar.

The four modules are as follows:

1. Rapid Regulatory Compliance: Clinical I:Compliance; Ethics; Sexual Harassment; Patient Rights; Informed Consent; Advanced Directives;Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA); Grievances; Developmental AppropriateCare; Cultural Competence; Restraint/Seclusion; Patient Abuse/Assault/Neglect

2. Rapid Regulatory Compliance: Clinical II:General/Fire/Electric/Back/Radiation/Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Safety; Ergonomics;Lift/Transport; Slips/Trips/Falls; Latex Allergy; Hazardous Communication; Workplace Violence;Emergency Prep; Infection Control; Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI); Hand Hygiene; Bloodborne;Standard Precautions; Airborne/Contact/Droplet Precautions, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

3. Hazardous Communication

4. HIPAA (Health Information Portability and Accountability Act)

Just hoping to save someone some time in case they run into the same problems I had. :)

Thanks! It was nice meeting you at CPR training. See you at orientation!
