You will need all this and a large dose of luck. CSUS's nursing program has been impacted for years.

I will be applying to Sac State's nursing program this summer for Spring '08. I found http://www.hhs.csus.edu/NRS/Advising/GenericAdvising/fall2006/ really helpful. They show the point scales they use for GPA and TEAS test scores and also statistics for previous semesters so you can see what you are up against. I would say it is more hard work and dedication than luck.

Based on my GPA and current TEAS score I will have 71 points. I am also retaking the TEAS next week to hopefully raise my 92%. So Im hoping these past 2 years of hard work, tons of studying, and a highly reduced social life pay off in September!!

If you have anymore questions, let me know. Trust me I have done hours of research haha.

did you go to a community college first or are you going straight to sac?

community college. I definitely did not have the money nor the grades to go straight to sac. Although if I could have, I would have.

well i know that my grades are definitely good enough to get into sac but i heard that a practically straight "A" student was rejected from the nursing program. let's say if i don't get accepted my freshman year but i still go to sac what can i do to better my chances sophomore year?

Specializes in med/surg, telemetry, IV therapy, mgmt.

sacramento state isn't the only nursing school in california. here are some weblinks you should check out about nursing schools in our state:

you should also check out this website on what rn nursing is and the choices available to you in the process of becoming an rn.

You are going to "hear" a lot of things in between now and when you get into nursing school. Ignore 99 percent of it.

Well definitely focus on your grades of course, but also study hard for the TEAS test. Buy the study guide, read the different sections, do the practice tests, sign up for it as early as possible and keep taking it, as many times as you can, cause there's always a chance you can do better (and they take your highest score)!

I don't have the greatest grades, all B's and A's but my GPA is only a 3.6. I still think i have a pretty decent chance based on last springs point cutoff. My Teas score definitely is helping me out. Oh and also try and get as many of the extra points as possible. Try and meet the bilingual requirements and the health care experience requirements cause those 8 or so points can definitely push you up.

Just stay focused. If you want it bad enough you can definitely get it. I'm just hoping the last 2 years of hard work pay off next winter with an acceptance letter!
