Sac State (CSUS) Fall 2012 Applicants

U.S.A. California

Hey guys! Who's applying for Fall 2012?

Hi everyone. I noticed on the email that if we are accepted, we don't pick our own schedules but rather they are given to us. I looked up all the possibilities in the Fall 2012 class schedule but some of it is confusing. For instance Nursing 15 says it's a 6 hour lab but shows 8 hours of class time. Does anyone know anything about what the possible 1st semester schedule will be like?

hey! based on the time ive spent looking at the schedule i figured our most common schedule would be monday 8-4, teusday 2:30-4:30, wednesday 8-4, thursday 7:30- 6:20 (if you need pharmacology if you dont shave an hour and a half off that time). there is one class that is on friday but it also has a wednesday alternative which is what i included in my projected schedule.

regarding the nursing 15 if it has 6 hours lab and spans 8 hours total then two hours would be lecture to complete the 8 hour block i think.

all of this is from memory, i did not cross reference while writing so if you need accuracy, double check. :)

I can help with schedules! :D Teehee.

So basically, your school schedule depends a LOT on which clinical section you are assigned to. For example, my clinical day is on Tuesday, and I have Wednesdays off, and I have lab for N15 and N16 on Friday. However, if you have clinical on, let's say, Friday, then your lab for those classes is on Wednesday. So basically, half of the class will have it on Wednesday, half on Friday.

N15 is a special case in which the first few weeks, you have lecture in order to get all the basic theory for clinical. After a while, there aren't anymore scheduled N15 lectures.

N12, which I have on Monday mornings, is a class where the entire class is together (all 80 of you, instead of being split like lab). The same goes for N11 and N18 on Thursdays.

N14 (Pharmacology) is televised and also streaming at your leisure, so you also don't need to attend class specifically at the scheduled time.

Also -- be ready for a lot of schedule changes, a lot of night-before announcements of when to show up for class or simulation lab, because you're often divided into groups and go through things in rotation.

It all sounds really confusing when I type it out this way, but trust me, it will make so much more sense when you're admitted - they'll send you a PDF with a breakdown of schedules by your individual clinical section, and the faculty does a good job of announcing and reminding. :)

Thanks so much for your help. The schedule changes make me nervous. The reason I'm so worried about the schedule is that I have a two year old who, if I'm accepted, will be attending child care for the first time and I'm curious what her schedule will need to be. I'm not sure how it will work if there are a lot of changes. I've read a bunch of your posts and really appreciate you making yourself available to all of us obsessed hopefuls!

oh my gosh i hope they will make their decision fast ;)

I have a son who will be starting first grade. I will be commuting from Stockton everyday so that will be crazy (if I get accepted into the program). Ive been checking my email way too many times in the span of two hours ;) It's driving me crazy. I got accepted at SJDelta College but looking forward to Sac State's decision. They give me until the 4th to decline or accept but I doubt that (if I am placed on the alternate list at Sac State) I will be moved up the list and officially in by the 4th. This is torturing!!!

Hi all Sac State applicants! Is everybody assuming we will hear by Monday about acceptance? Anybody heard anything else, besides the last email saying, stop calling we will tell you before the 1st. That leaves today and Monday if I understood everything correctly. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I have been obsessively checking my email and the website, but no updates are there yet. I will be on the computer every 30 minutes checking on monday until news arrives. Cant wait! I have not heard anything more about it but Im feeling a delicious sense of anticipation. Good luck ladies (and gents)only a few more days and life will go on! (does anyone else feel "in limbo" until the news comes?)

my chest gets heavier by the day. i am so stressed and mean to my partner. good thing he understands. lol. he's been asking me if i got an email already and i told him to stop asking me. hahaha.

and i feel like im in liimbo.

Just got this in an email!!

Admission decisions and complete evaluations will be emailed to all applicants after 5:00 p.m., Monday, April 30. Please remember to check all email folders (inbox, junk, and bulk). If you have not received your admission decision by 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, please email ----- at __________with ADM in caps in the subject line; and if available an alternate email address. We regret we are not able to respond to phone calls at this time.

We received 321 applications for 80 seats. We plan to offer admission to 75 students initially until the seven-day review period is over. The candidate ranked number 75 has 69 points; the candidate ranked number 80 has 68 points. We regret this was a very competitive applicant pool. It is too early to tell what the final point cut off will be, but historically we have gone down to alternate number 15-40 in the past; this varies each semester."
