A week prior to my final I calculated my grades and knew I needed an 80 on the final to pass the class. I met with my instructor to review the previous quiz. It was a test question that she said she would throw out because it could have been two answers. I didn't think about it any further until after I made a 79 on the final which made me fail the class. I needed a 79.5 to pass the class and I had a 79.4

I emailed my instructor. Asking about the test question she said she would throw out because if she threw out that one question then I would pass. She emailed me back and said "Sorry all test are final and grades can not be changed. I misspoke during test review regarding throwing out that question."

Is that fair that she can tell me one thing and then go back on her word? Especially when that one question will pass or fail me? What would you do in this situation?

Yes, you guys are affiliated with the nursing schools and yes, OP paid money and he is a customer of the nursing school and he deserves top notch education. Let's make sure these crooked nursing school don't get away with their business conduct and screw people over. It is OP who has to pay for his loans not the crooked nursing schools who look out for themselves and want to take advantage of poor people. You are right there are no shortages in nursing and nursing schools keep on lying to poor students that there is. Good luck for living in Lala land and supporting crooked nursing schools.

No, I am 100% NOT affiliated with any school. You are more affiliated with a school than I am (if you are going to a nursing program).

No, the OP is NOT a customer. She paid money but that does NOT make her a costumer. That makes the OP a student. By the way, the customer is NOT always right.

No, NOT all nursing programs are "crooked" & NO they don't all "screw" people over.

No, it's not just the "crooked" nursing school that is lying to you about there being a nursing shortage. Check the news.

Still NO, I have not been brain washed & I DON'T live in lala land & I DON'T support "crooked" nursing schools. I go to community colleges & non-profit insitutions. I don't attend for-profit institutions.

If you don't want to attend "crooked" nursing programs, then why are you becoming a nurse? Hmm? Or are you just wasting everyone's time & trolling us?

You do realize that when (and if) you graduate from nursing school and pass (or not) the NCLEX, you are going to be dealing with customers? Are you going to just sit back and let the customer (whom you refer to as "king") do something that is going to be harmful to self when you are their nurse? Are you going to just say "okay, drink this water" to a patient in ESRD? I mean, after all, the customer is king!

BTW: I am a home hospice nurse. I don't teach and I am not affiliated with any schools. I am also a small business owner. And I have learned that customers are sometimes morons.

First of all, you guys are affiliated big time otherwise you wouldn't defend the crooked nursing schools. Second, real nurses are compassionate and caring individuals unlike a few of you guys and you know who you are. You guys are paid to promote and spread false information about shortages of nurses and all the nonsense that students are told when they begin their nursing education. Thirdly, OP is a customer he paid and he deserves better than those lousy so called Professor who where lousy to begin with and never have a cent in them to teach only to make money. They got attitudes when questioned. Fourth, the nursing school Professor s are people who can't handle being a nurse RN and go into teaching cause they are money hungry and don't want to deal with the patients. Having said that you guys are the definition of what a nursing student shouldn't be, money hungry and not going in and becoming a nurse for the wrong reason. Op, if you read this ignore all the nonsense you read about and the negative advice. Just go and demand. In my eyes you are the customer with major loans who deserves high quality education. You are never lousy and you deserve to become a nurse. Also, in every profession you deal with life or death situations. An electrician for example deals with electricity. He has to make sure to keep himself and his surroundings safe. I don't hear an electrician apprentice complaining as much as a nursing student. Believe me most of these schools are fraud. No quality education and only profits. Think!!!!

And who paid you to come on here and attack everyone who offered opinions you didn't like? Also, you are sorely mistaken if you think people go into nursing because they are "money hungry." That is just laughable.

Education is one of the ONLY businesses where the customer is NOT king. You pay for the privilege of LEARNING and learning requires personal responsibility. You don't waltz into a classroom and demand things just because you were stupid enough to take out ridiculous loans. What happened to the days when a student actually held themselves responsible for their education and didn't expect to be spoon-fed everything or given unlimited attempts just because they paid to be there? And you're absolutely right, we are affiliated with nursing schools - the ones we've all actually graduated from.

Not worth the electrons required to polarize the pixels on the screen

Look, you call it personal responsibility and I call it "students getting screwed by nursing schools and incompetent wanna be Professor who are out to get poor American souls". I'm not attacking anyone, just giving OP and the world real facts and letting this monkey business know that we are not staying silent and we will stand up and make noise when you guys who are affiliated with these nursing schools are giving hard working American people wrong advice.

You are speechless, aren't you? That's ok, cause the buck stops right here. No more fake information. These poor students have no voice and I am here to stay. Go somewhere else and spread all your ill information.

No, we are no affiliated with the school or any school. We are just actual practicing nurses with lots of experience under our belts. By the way, customers are NOT kings. Especially not in nursing school. Are you even in nursing school yet? If you aren't, how can you give such advice to the OP?

There is no nursing shortage (but people think there is) so nursing programs can pick whoever they want for their nursing programs. If you fail, oh well, that's on you! There is absolutely no hand holding! You don't get spoon fed any information in nursing school like you did in your pre-reqs. You better be ready to teach yourself because there is not enough time in the day for the instructor to teach you everything.

Nobody "screwed" the OP over except for the OP. He should've gotten help from his instructor, figured out where he was going wrong instead of struggling all semester & then had to get an 80 on his final.

You will see this soon enough & then come to eat your words.

The nursing student is still PAYING the school and (indirectly) the nursing instructor. If they aren't going to do their job, then, sorry go back to bedside nursing. Nursing school has the fend for yourself culture, but that's brought about by the admin and instructors. They are the nurses that nobody wants.

Like any other job, if you aren't going to do your job and benefit the student, then it's time to leave.

You didn't answer my question, if you hate nursing schools so much why are you attending one? Or are you trolling us with your name? By the way, you are giving the OP any facts, just YOUR OPINION. Nowhere have you ever stated a fact.

If the OP didn't study correctly, the OP failed him/herself. How do you think the OP earned that grade? The instructor didn't just pull the grade out of thin air! The OP took tests & quizzes & earned that grade. Apparently the OP didn't grasp the material as well as the OP thought or the OP wouldn't have needed an 80 on his/her final.

I don't know why you feel like you need to troll us. So go back under the bridge you came from.

The only one spreading false information is YOU. Are you a former nursing student who failed out & now you're bitter about it?

None of us are affiliated with any school. In fact, I'm not even working at the moment! LMAO! But it's all making sense now. You failed out & now you're bitter about it so instead of taking the high road & being mature about it, you're being petty, immature & bashing ALL nursing programs. Guess what?! It was YOUR fault you failed too!
