Tommorrow is my first day of nursing school! I don't know what to expect all I know is that I'm nervous. I almost feel like I'm going in the 9th grade trying to avoid the bullies/snobs and try not to trip in front of my class.

Im sure it is scary preparing for the first day of nursing school, but how exciting also! I recently got accepted into an LPN program, but don't start until October. I read in a prior post, you are going to RSU. Do you mind telling me how tough it was to get accepted there? Did you have all of your pre-req's completed?

Thanks a good luck tomorrow :wink2:

Hi Cassandra!

I'll tell you the same thing I told my 5 year old tonight who starts kindergarten tomorrow:

"It's everyone else's first day too and I'm sure they are just as scared as you are. You might not know anyone else but even the most important person in your class doesn't know anyone either; the teacher."

I know the second part was probably not as helpful but if you keep the whole thing in mind, maybe it will help your nerves some. And who knows, maybe you'll turn out to be the smartest one there!

Good luck and I'm sure you'll do just fine!

:redpinkhe Thanks for the encouragement Dondie. My mother use to say those encouraging words....man I miss them!

As far as getting accepted... as long as you have A's and B's you should be okay. i was so nervous I didn't think I would get in because I heard horror stories that 500 applied...not true. I believe as long as you have good grades and all the requirements they want finished you'll get right in.

I tell ya if you want to get accepted to nursing school and don't mind the cost, look at the private colleges like oklahoma city university....i applied there for the bachelors to bsn program and got accepted the next day. the only problem is that the first semester tuition was like $10,000 dollars, i think they now have a one fee plan instead of the normal pay scale the other degree programs use. total i think it is about 37,000 i regret having to pay so much, but got in with a previous g.p.a. of 3.37

oh yeah did i mention it only took 18 months?

of course that particular program requires you to have a previous bachelors. but i understand that since it is a private school they need students that are willing to pay even in the traditional program.

:yeah:sorry A.D.D. moment.... hey you will do just fine it always took me a while to get "in tune" each semester let alone when i first started...but every journey begins........etc

Whenever i go to a new assignment as an agency nurse i have to psych myself up that is is just another great learning experience. my motto for life is that God never gives us anymore than we are able to handle, and since I believe he is the giver of all good things, he gave you nursing school, and you will be able to handle it.....simple.

God bless, good luck and dive on in...the waters fine....
