Hello, I am finally ready to take my first test with excelsior, (lifespan) but I understand I need to apply there first. I am up with a peds case now, and would like to do it tonight, but I am not sure If I send the transcripts in with my application or if I can send them after I apply. ( I just called for the school for transcripts, so it will be a few days.) Also can I take loans out for excelsior? I was just going to pay as I go ( I have most of the books already from former students) but I was thinking that if I do the loans at least that way i would be reimbursed through the tuition reimbursment program...
Thanks in advance,
Sharon

Hello,
I am in the same boat as you. I applied and when you apply you pay $65 (actually think it went up since then) and list your transcripts that you will be sending. You will be elibigle to take Gen Eds and NC1 & 2 w/out actually enrolling while you wait for the transcripts to be received and reviewed.
Hope this helps - good luck to you

I have gotten the info on Life Span and from what I have gathered, you don't have to enroll until you are ready to tackle NC 3-7. In other words, you just notify Excelsior that you want to schedule to take the exam. They will then send you a letter confiming your test date. Once you take the test, you can then move on to another area such as Micro, A&P, etc.

I just sent in my application as well. Did you know that you don't have to take NC 2 as long as you are a current licensed nurse in good standing? Just thought you might want to know that. Good luck!

Nursing Concepts 2 is no longer required! Plus, you ONLY have to be enrolled with Excelsior to take the last five nursing courses (NC 3-7).
Once you enroll, you have 12 months to complete the entire program and the clinical...if you do not, you have to pay the re-enrollment fee and it's over $400!
You can do all your pre-reqs and the first nursing course before you have to be enrolled!!!
Nursing Concepts 2 is no longer required!
Does that apply to students of all backgrounds? Or just LPN's/LVN's?

Hi eric, No matter what background you are, you don't have to enroll in EC until its time to take nc3. But, it's only the lpn's who don't have to take nc2 anymore. Hope that helps to answer your question.
Also, EC is adding a 4-credit, 3 part clinical competency assessment of skills related to head-to-toes assessment, managing multiple patients, and interacting with an interdisciplinary health care team. The CPNE is still required.
Sounds like they're trying to get in good w/ the states that are having additional requirements for EC grads.

Did you buy the study guides from EC?
I bought the Micro study guide from Excelsior and it was a waste of money. The free content guide had more information in it. Don't waste your money.
