RV's anyone???

Haven't traveled for almost 7 years. Am contemplating a return. Don't want to do the extensive move every thirteen weeks thing I did in 1990's and am thinking I want to purchase a "Toy Hauler" to bring my garage and toy's with me. I know the price of fuel will almost equal the cost of the vehicle per year but I just remember how much I hated to pack and unpack with every new assignment. I know some who travel with a suitcase, a plate, fork, spoon and some bed linens but I just can't. I even shipped my Kitchen stuff to Hawaii when I did that assignment. What's it like out there now?

Enjoy your time off. Sorry to hear about your un-expected expenses. we all sure have them. I would sell or trade my 33 footer for a smaller class c. There is no place like home, on wheels or not. That part is something I miss. I know where everything is and there is no surprise, no bedbugs or lice or someone needing to change my air filter! My place and my space.

Just a reminder...you need 1 to 2 years current experience in the field you want to work in as a traveler! Hope you researched that before selling the baby and bath water?

I only took a week off( Most of that used up in travel). Being home meant I was set up in a new place for a while again. I am close enough to "Home Base" that I plan on going there every weekend while on my current assignment. My Mom is doing well after the passing of my Father, but needs a bit of help around the house. My Brother is taking advantage too, fed me breakfast yesterday and then proceeded to work me to near exhaustion.

So stoked to have found this thread. Eventually I hope to be a traveler, but for now I must work on finishing school and a skoolie. I will continue lurking in the meantime

Here are some more photos of the rig. Still a work in progress but hopefully nearing completion soon. Considering the final toyhauler but need to wait a bit to determine what else are "have to" projects.

I love to travel, however it is time to re think this issue with the increase in gas prices and the lower pay RN's are getting as travel nurses. Travel pay has not increased as I have done this for a number of years. My RV sits idle as it is too expensive to travel with it.One car per year due to the many miles is a real killer. My husband's hrly wage is higher than mine, better benefits and has a much bigger input in his schedule as an RN. What is wrong with this pic?

I am hoping to start a travel assignment about Nov 1st. We have an RV, a 39' bounder, that we bought with the intention of using to winter in warm places. Hoping to get an assignment in a smaller facility PACU/SDS which is what my most recent experience is in. I have worked endo, cardiac cath, radiology, med surg, rehab, psych. I feel the pacu or med surg will probably be the most marketable. Any recommendations re: staffing company to go with?

Thanks for any info!

We had travelled for 2 1/2 years around CA and FL in our 34' Holiday Rambler, towing our Saturn SC2(best tow, IMO). We lovedit. Settled to work in Miami for last three years, but politics became too much for me and we are going North for the summer to be closer to family in Canada. Can't wait to leave...... Probably gonna use a local ND company to work L&D in a crisis situation in Williston, ND. Pay is good, but I have to pay $1000 in gas to get there. $250/month RV lot rent so it's worth it. We'll see.... I'll keep you posted...

I have heard that ND is really booming as far as jobs of all kinds are concerned, I heard their unemployment is about 3% or something.....

$250 a month for lot rent? you have to pay electric for that don't you?? I stayed in a Mobile home park for $220 a month once but had to cut the grass, pay the electric and shovel the snow.
