Rutgers Part-time BSN

Published

Hello! I am public school teacher and interested in learning more about the Rutgers part-time second degree BSN. I teach in Newark and I can't really afford to quit my job and compete an accelerated BSN, so I think this program will be ideal. Specifically, I am interested to learning more about the schedule of the program. I saw on another thread that classes are held Thursday and Friday evenings as well a Saturdays. Can anyone confirm that and offer more insight? For example, how difficult the program is to complete while working full time? How many hours a week will I need to devote to studying? Also, do I have a chance of getting in? I graduated from Rutgers in 1999 with a BA in Sociology and BS in Sports Management with a 3.2 GPA. I am currently taking prereq courses and have earned a 4.0 so far. Thanks so much!!!

Hi Betty,

Have you talked with anyone at the school? You may want to inquire because they are going to be able to give you great specific information. They are probably going to be able to steer you into real up to date information. As far as "how difficult while working." That really is on the individual for most programs. I did an ABSN and I had to study non stop. However that was 21 hours a semester. Also don't forget clinicals. Even though you have class on such and such a date..you will also have clinicals. All I can say is get information from the source. Rutgers U.

People who do the part time route were still working. That's why they chose that route instead of the full time accelerated route. Call the admissions office to get concise information about the program because things can change. Also go to the New Jersey forum and find current threads discussing Rutger's program. You said you found a thread, so hopefully you posted these same questions on there.

Good luck!
