2009 Rush Gem Summer Applicants

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if there are any Summer 2009 Rush GEM applicants out there and if you have heard anything back from RUSH at this point? I applied for early decision and don't really know how competitive I am as an applicant... My undergrad gpa is a 3.6 with the last 60 hours being a 3.8. I have research experience at Northwestern at the medical school, have been published once in a peer-reviewed journal, have been a vp and pres of BBB national honor society. I have a year of full time EMT experience and about 1,000 hours in volunteering at a nursing home. I am just really worried because I keep reading that people are like 3.9 GPA's with tons of clinical experience and what not.

If anyone is out there who is applying let me know how your process is going.

WOo Hoo, Just got the call today, my interview is on Feb 3... hope it goes well!

I also got a call for an interview on February 3 (does everyone get an interview?...the phone call was so anticlimactic)

Yes, everyone who makes it past the initial screen has to interview. Mine is Jan. 30, so nervous. I am hoping its just a formality and they just want to put a face with the application.:)

I am going to apply to Rush for Winter 2010 (working on my application now). Does anyone know if you are required to travel to Rush for the interview, or will they grant you a phone interview if you live out of state?

I am coming from Ohio, I didn't think to ask for a phone interview. My thought is they probably want a face-to-face so they can make a better judgment on the applicant's disposition and people skills.

Do any of you know the stats for % of applicants offered an interview who are also offered a spot in the program. I know it's new, but the call was just so anticlimactic that I can't help thinking that everyone who submits an application gets an interview.

So I just had my interview this morning and I completely forgot to ask about when we'll hear the decision....any clues?

I finished my interview as well, I also do not know when we are supposed to hear back. I do know the admissions committee will meet this friday (today) for some decisions.

I turned in my application late December, early January and haven't heard anything yet. I just called the admissions office and she wouldn't tell me anything except that they have everything they need for my application. She said she has no idea when they will contact me. She said I would receive a letter or email so I have no idea either! I wish we had some sort of idea when we will know.

they say that they will send a letter or email to me too, but they called me to schedule the interview. Dont sweat it though, the admissions committee meets twice a month, they just met this past friday. Good luck.
