Hello,
I looked around and did not see a forum for the 2022 fall GEM program at Rush University in Chicago. I just applied and received an email inviting me to interview with the school. I was wondering if there are any other people on here applying to the program and how they are feeling? ?

Yes I got that email as well! 9 more days left ya'll, I truly wonder how many people interviewed.

I got it as well, I am hoping for the best! I am also hoping it is not delayed.

Oh my gosh thank you so much! How do you like the program so far, what semester are you in and if you don't mind me asking where are you from? I have been trying to look at apartments but Taylor lofts seems so expensive. I am from California so If I do get admitted I would be bringing my car as I am sure it is needed? Any advice and information would be so appreciated. Have you heard the professors mention anything about the upcoming cohort? I was wondering how many people have been interviewed...

I am in semester 5/6 so I graduate in August. I really like the program, expensive but I think there are a lot of opportunities. I am from Michigan and don't have a car and I just take public transportation to school/hospital. Most clinical sites are easily accessed by public transit, and theyre good about giving suburb sites to people who live nearby. I live in an area that I enjoy (outside of school) because id rather commute further which is about 35 minutes. There's a lot of really great neighborhoods, I'd avoid anything south and west of the city/hospital. The professors don't tell us anything about interviews haha I will say though that I was on the wait list and I got off it and accepted! Even people who were like number 23 on the waitlist got accepted so don't let it discourage you! The program is well established and its nice having the hospital & school as one system. The courses aren't as difficult as I imagined them to be. The school also offers a lot of great volunteer and different activities to get involved in. Let me know if you have any other questions!
For waitlisted students do they notify you of your specific rank number and when it moves up?

Yeah they tell you your number. I’m not sure if they update you when you move up. They set a date for accepted students to accept a seat and then the extra spots left after that date go to the waitlist students

I was thinking commuting might not be so bad either especially if you can find a affordable place with amenities included and such. Would you have any recommendations of which places to look into? And congratulations on almost finishing, you must be excited!!

Hi everyone,
Are you all just as anxious as I am to hear back from the admissions committee? I had my interview last week Friday and it was very relaxing. It did feel like a conversation. I am going to answer a few questions asked in the chat. I do not come from a strong academic background during the middle of my undergraduate degree due to family emergencies. Therefore my GPA is not as competitive as many other possible applicants. However, I do have healthcare experience working as a Microbiology Lab Assistant and I volunteer at a hospital in a orthopedic nursing unit. And I also volunteer with Cook County‘s Food depository on weekends. So hopefully Rush can take in my experiences into account rather my academic background.
Best of luck to everyone!
