RUSH CRNA 2023

Published

Hi, I wanted to start a thread to see how many people have applied for 2023? Does anyone know what the interview process is like? Or when they let us know about interviews?

I don’t think they want us to discuss details of the interview. But yes, I also don’t know when we’ll hear back but I would assume early August! ?

Heard from someone that starts this year that they all found out first week of September!! ??

Waiting that long sounds like actual torture ?

Do you know if they also interviewed June to end of July last year? Or did they start interviews later last year and that’s why decisions came out later? ? September is such a long time to wait!

She said she interviewed same time this year. ?I didn’t ask in my interview when we would hear back did you?

On another note... Looking up online I've found numerous threads talking about a toxic culture at Rush. Anyone knows anything about that? It seems like a great program and is also highly ranked but I am a bit concerned after reading that many SRNAs had issues with bullying, competing for cases in clinicals and just toxic culture throughout. Thoughts?!

To be honest I wanted to ask the program director this exact question but didn’t find a polite way to do so. I had the same concerns and I talked to a current 3rd year student and they basically said that there had been a lot of turnover in faculty in the years prior to the pandemic and during that time it was bad. But now with the new program director things are much better. With that being said, the program is housed in a massive medical institution, so the student acknowledged that there is some inevitable conflict with residents but that you’ll always get your case hours! This is one students opinion so take it with a grain of salt. But it seems like the current faculty have done a ton of work to make it a good learning environment for incoming students!

Rush has always been infamous for this culture unfortunately, yet they have always had the lowest attrition rates and exam pass rates. However, I have found 90% of the alumni that I have talked to we’re thankful of the experience they had disregarding the bullying bc they felt truly prepared and ready to work. Also with the new program director it seems like a lot of positive change is coming to the program. I was told the culture stemmed from previous leadership. Interview’s did not used to be like they are now at Rush. It used to be very cut throat and then continued throughout the time in the program. I am hopeful things will change and that if I am excepted we have an awesome cohort, and can contribute to that change! In regards to cases, they did mention opening up more OR rooms at Rush and more clinical opportunities fore-coming according to them when I interviewed .

Do you remember the names of all 3 people? I got two of them but I'm not able to find the 3rd. They asked me to email them any questions because we ran a little short. I want to make sure I ask all 3.

This wait is killing me. Really hope we find out the first week of August!!

Same! Has anyone asked when we would expect to hear back?
