Reply to LFalcon. It was hard work getting to the lifting 50 pounds. I just did the same things it sounds like you are doing though. It just seems slow at first. I did start lifting weights at home. Light wt. at first. So I was lifting from the floor to my son's wt. bench. I wanted to really learn to use my legs to lift because I'm so small. I got my full ROM back though so I'm in good shape, just keep working. Good luck.
