Rotating shifts at your hospital?

Another poster mentioned that new grads at WHC must work rotating shifts. Is that true at other Washington-area hospitals? I'd love to hear your experiences, in particular as it applies for new grads. Am I going to have to work rotating shifts? Permanent nights? Is permanent days a pipe dream for a new grad right now?

We do not work rotating shifts at my facility (Sibley Memorial Hospital), but I think we are an anomaly in that respect. From what I have heard, many do require rotating shifts.

In my experience if you want to work in an inpatient nursing unit, it will be much harder to be a new grad and work straight day light. That being said, it's not impossible. Some managers are fine if say, one new grad wants all days, and another wants all nights, if they work each others shifts (ie each able to work full night or full day). Some managers, are much more insistent that everyone rotates shifts.
