Roseman University Las Vegas ABSN October 2017

I am wondering if anyone else is planning on applying to the October 2017 ABSN cohort at Roseman University? I was thinking we could help each other out with information throughout the process.

So as I mention before once you are done the TEAS you will sit down with an admission rep. They will go over your application and let you know what you need to have completed and what not. I had all my NusingCAS submitted including transcripts but I don't know if that is required for them to send an invite. The admission rep said everything was good for me that day and they submitted it to the admission team who says yes or no to an invite. My TEAS was on May 16th, my application was submitted to the admission team as complete that day and 3 days later on the 19th I received my interview invite.

In regards to the TEAS, I studied 3 to 4 hours a day. I also did the practice questions in mometrix and the ATI TEAS book. The nice thing about the mometrix is that it has practice test. I used those to see what i needed to improve. I don't remember if there was a test in the ATI TEAS book.

Also if you don't mind spending 15 dollars and have an iphone/andriod there is an app called ATI® TEAS Exam Prep 2017 by Pocket Prep, Inc. The app is free but for the extra money you can buy the in-app purchase and you get have over 1375 practice questions and they explain why the answer was right and why others were wrong. I liked it because I could take shour 10 question test or longer test depending on how much time I had and since I did not have to bring around my books it was convenient for downtime when I would outside the house or just relaxing on the couch.

Lastly Khan Academy | Free Online Courses, Lessons & Practice. If you are weak in any topic they have videos that goes over everything the TEAS covers. I like their math section since they actually have practice questions too and you don't have to pay.

Math:

So math was straight forward, at least for me. It was calculation questions and simple algebra. The ATI teas book was close to what I had on my test.

English:

Knowing the rules for grammar and spelling like I before E except after c is important. I also remembered on mine that few of the exceptions listed in the ATI TEAS book where on my test

Science:

A&P is a must. The majority of questions will be from that. The rest is physical science and scientific reasoning. I think there was 8 or so of each of those.

Also for the ATI TEAS guide there are corrections to it which can be found here:

You should do great with that amount of studying. Honestly, I didn't study as tediously as I should have for the TEAS. What helped a lot was just going over practice questions.

Just remember to pace yourself! I didn't realize how fast the time passes, especially for the reading section.

Good luck for some of you who will have their interview tomorrow! You can do it! ☺️ I'm still studying for my TEAS test scheduled on 6/13. Thank you for advices/tips on how to study for the TEAS. Greatly appreciated.

So a little about the interview day:

When you go check in to the main door to the building they give you a packet and your name tag. In the packet they had a breakdown of how they score you in regards to admission and how the admission process works. I think they said 33% of the score is your last 60 credit hour GPA/preq gpa. 33% was from your TEAS score and they actually show you how many points you get by your percentile for each section of the test and your overall score. The rest was from your interview and your written portion question you have to do. The written portion was the least amount of points.

We started off the day with a tour of the building. After that they had us sit down and wait for the presentation to start. It covered financial aid, the schedule for the program and some things about the program itself. After that we were given 15 minutes to do the written portion. They said they mainly look at grammar, spelling, and if you answered the question. After they started to call people's names for their interview. Those not being called were called by their admission rep. You rep will sit down with you to discuss your application. What you need to finish, what you need to submit, etc. Mine at least went over how competitive they thought I was. After you are finished your interview you can go the the financial aid office if you wish. For us, once we were done our interview and talked to our admission rep we were free to leave.

The interview was pretty straight forward. They will ask you a question from a sheet and see how you respond to it. They will ask you one question from each topic: Communication, Leadership/Team Skills, Motivation, Problem-Solving Skills, Professionalism, & Caring/Compassion. Some people I talked to said they had some other questions but usually it is like how did you get here, where are you coming from, and why nursing.

We were told that two weeks or less after our interview we will hear back via email. You will either get an acceptance or told you were put on hold. They will specifically tell you why. It was a large group for this first interview group. About 60 people I am guessing. They did say they accept around 58 student and not all come from the first interview group. They did say 90% of the reason someone is rejected it because they had too low of a TEAS score.

Thanks for the update! Can you give me one example of the interview question you got? For example about leadership, are they expecting you to give what leadership means or your experience about leadership? Now that you mention that some applicants were rejected because of low score in TEAS.... it makes me more scared to take the TEASí ½í¸© But I'll try my best...good luck to you! I have a feeling you'll get in☺️

I am literally at the open house today, have already applied for October admission and wanted to get a feel for the school vs. what I have read or what an admission counselor has told me. So far so good! Still concerned re: expense. I would have to re-locate from California (another concern) so, after the financial aid presentation, I will know more 😉

At interview day, I believe almost half the room were from out of state (mostly California) so you're not alone! They should have went over the cost of living in Las Vegas, tuition, and how to get in contact with other students in the program as possible roommates.

Applicants from the first interview date find out if we get accepted in less than a week! I'm so nervous.

Not sure if you are concerned about finances, but the financial aid presentation said they will not be working on October 2017 admission until July 5. I wanted to find out when we would know about financial aid amount vs. acceptance. Kind of hard to accept a spot if you don't know what you will qualify for. She said there are options, but basically a deposit of $250 would hold your spot. I am expecting my interview date in July, as the June date coincided w/my son's graduation. Do you currently live in the area or are you coming from another location?

I am also applying for the October 2017 cohort. My TEAS exam is tomorrow and I hope to get an interview next month :)

I also applied for the October cohort and I'm literally getting so anxious as to if I'll get in or not, but let's hope for the best everybody! :) It should be coming out around this Thursday right?

What's coming out this Thursday?

Shouldn't acceptances/rejections be coming out this Thursday? (it's 2 weeks after the June 8th interview)
