Hi everyone! I am a hopeful for the October 2018 ABSN cohort at Roseman Health Science University. I didn't see a thread for this group and have some questions, so I figured I would start one :-)
I applied May 1 and have yet to hear back about an interview invitation, which I was under the impression would be coming around this time. I'm very excited about this program and nervous as heck. Has anybody heard back?
Hi! If any of you have any questions regarding the ABSN program, shoot me some questions! I'll be happy to assist you. I am currently a student in the Henderson campus. I started the ABSN program in February 2018.
Thank you for taking questions! How are your clinical rotations scheduled? Is it true that they give you the schedule for a week of clinicals only a week in advance?
Also, is it often that clinicals are on the weekends?
As you know, you must complete the didactic portion of that class prior to clinical rotation. So first and foremost, you need to pass the assessment(s) w/ a 90% or higher. It shouldn't be a problem if you study and your group gets the extra points. It can be very nervewrecking at first, but you'll get used to it.
As for as clinicals go, the clinical director will give out the information 2 weeks before the start of the clinical rotation. It is not based on preference. They schedule your group wherever and whenever they can place you. So far, I have been lucky. My group has been at Spring Valley hospital twice (excellent experience for fundies/med surg) and we had Tues, Weds, Thurs (12 hours a day) and the other Sun Mon Tues (12 hours). I remember some groups had clinicals during Saturday too, it just depends. Just pray and hope you get lucky they place you at a hospital that's closeby and manageable days!
