Roseman University ABSN July 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi, everyone!

Since the application has opened, I wanted to start a thread for those applying to Roseman University for entry in July 2019.

I look forward to hearing from you guys!

For those who interviewed last week, how are you feeling? I'm feeling anxious especially since they mentioned we'd hear back in 2-3 weeks. I've been trying to look around for different discussion boards from students at Roseman in previous cohorts, but have been having difficulty.

@jie.b

Yay! Congrats on getting an invite!

I’m still waiting to hear if I get an invite for February.

Keep us updated on how your interview goes. Good luck!!

@Lovingnursing387 @sealove1

Congrats again on getting an interview, you guys.

Would you be able to share what the interview experience was like?

I hope you guys receive good news in 2 weeks!

@jie.b

That is so exciting that you got an invite for Feb....I’m checking my email all the time!!! Fingers crossed I hear soon. Curious when did you submit your application?

@c0323 thank you so much! I hope you hear back soon!

@Lburkhart hi! I submitted my application back on 10/31/18. I didn't know that the application cycle I applied for was over until I spoke with a counselor. I then submitted my rollover application for July 2019 on 12/3/18. Hope you hear back from them soon! I just got the email yesterday while I was at work.

I'm currently in at Roseman in the ABSN if you want to ask me anything ?

@jie.b

I had a few questions for you that I hope you don’t mind my asking.

I received an email last week from an admissions counselor asking if I had an advisor before she could start evaluating my transcripts.

Did you ever receive this email? And, did you find out you had to roll over to the next cohort by reaching out to Roseman or did Roseman reach out to you?

I’m just hoping there hasn’t been a mix-up with my application.

@paisling

Hi! I hope you don’t mind my jumping in on your offer.

Would you be able to share how your interview experience went?

Would you also be able to share your thoughts so far on the courses and clinicals (e.g. how the professors are, whether or not it’s adequate preparation for NCLEX, etc.)?

Thank you so much.

@c0323 hi! You may have encountered the same thing I went through when I applied. I realized no one reached out to me in over a month after applying and I found out I was supposed to speak to an advisor first before applying. I talked to someone through their live chat feature on their website and they scheduled a phone call with an advisor for me. Once I spoke to the advisor, she looked over my transcripts and sent over a rollover application form for me. Hope this helps!

hi @lovingnursing387! How did the interview go?

@jie.b

It’s the strangest thing, though. I already have an advisor, so I have no clue why another advisor contacted me about my transcripts. I’ve been emailing my advisor and the second advisor that contacted me, but I haven’t heard from them in almost 2 weeks. I guess this means I’ll have to call my advisor on Monday.

Thank you for getting back to me! Are you prepping for your interview yet?

My interview was pretty easy/straightforward. We got a tour, got other info, did an easy writing prompt (it's basically to see if you are decent at communicating your thoughts, not anything hard) and then I interviewed with just one professor but generally you interview with a professor and a student. I don't remember what I was asked but it's things like "tell me about a time you went above and beyond" and "tell me about a time you had a conflict with a coworker and how you resolved it" - generally behavior questions. You might also be asked why you want to be a nurse, etc. After they ask a couple questions you can ask some, and then you're all done! ?

I like most of the professors a lot. I go to the UT campus and based on what I've heard, I feel like we are having a better academic experience than NV but I don't know how accurate that is. You'll have UT and NV professors for all the classes, but you won't interact with the other campus even though you are taking the same class online. We are treated like adults, and the professors are generally very available by phone, email, or in person.

I feel like I will be well prepared for NCLEX. We go through material fast but based on how I do on practice questions in Saunders, ATI, etc I think I am learning the material and retaining it.

I think NV has better clinical opportunities than UT, but I have overall enjoyed my clinicals. I've gotten to experience multiple hospitals in the areas, and the nurses in the area seem to like Roseman nurses. We have the ability to do a lot of skills, especially when you get to the second half of the program.

Roseman isn't perfect (no school is) and there have been some frustrating experiences but overall I am really happy I chose Roseman and I feel like I will be well prepared for a nursing career.
