Members are discussing their experiences with being waitlisted and accepted into a nursing program, specifically focusing on the timing of notifications and the process of being waitlisted. Some members have received acceptance letters after being waitlisted, while others are still waiting for updates. There is also discussion about improving applications for reapplying and increasing science GPA for future applications.
Anyone applying to RFU's CRNA program for May 2025 start? Applications open today in NursingCAS. I don't see the application yet so I plan to check again later in the day.
R6Chris said:I'm not sure what kind of update ya'll are looking for. I'm also on hold, was at info session on the 10th. Don't think we'll hear back until they are confirming the cohort and people start dropping out. Most likely months from now.
The true waitlist isn't out yet. Hold isn't the waitlist. Hold is the large pile of applicants where no acceptance, waitlist, or rejection has come yet. In info sessions and open houses they explain the waitlist itself isn't even officially formed or notified until the 50 selected applicants receive acceptance. From there if spots open you can be moved up and into a spot.
info on hold vs waitlist from the rfu CRNA faq page:
After I interviewed, I received a "hold" decision, what does that mean?
A hold decision means that interviews are still ongoing, and your application is actively under review and consideration for acceptance.
After I interviewed, I received a "waitlist" decision, what does that mean?
A waitlist decision means that the program has received accepted offers of admission, and paid deposits, that fill the upcoming class. However, should a spot open up in the class, you may be contacted with an offer of admission.

I have 5.5 years experience, GPA 3.8, CCRN, TCAR, Skin Committee, Preceptor, Charge, etc. I was placed on hold after my kira with no info session. I did 2 mock interviews after this to prepare for other interviews & got into another school. For anyone who doesn't get in this round I highly suggest a mock. I just don't think I was as prepared as I could've been and I recognize that in hindsight. I'm pretty sure I didn't get in (haven't heard anything yet other than hold) but I've come to terms with it. You just need one yes! Hang in there everyone! & congrats to those who were accepted/waitlisted at RFU!

Thank you for sharing and the much needed encouragement! AND congratulations on your acceptance!!
Hey y'all! I've obsessively checked this thread during this process, so thought I'd pay it forward now that I've been admitted for anyone that might have any burning questions. I was in the November info session and heard back immediately after it finished. It's my first year applying to any CRNA programs and I applied to two schools total (I probably would have applied to more, but RFU was my top choice so no reason to keep torturing myself). Happy to answer any questions y'all have from my limited perspective! There are 32 people in our Facebook group right now, and I'm excited to see who our other 18 PALS are going to be (a poll in that group had 18 respondents with 14 in the IL cohort and 4 in the CO cohort so far). Across the board, the applicant pool is so competitive this year and you all are so impressive to even meet the application requirements, so don't be discouraged- it's a matter of when, not if you get into school. Good luck!

Thank you for sharing! You think approximately 6 spots for Colorado and 12 for Illinois left?

Where did you get your mock interview? I have one interview coming up and will be great to prepare more with mock interviews. Thank you!
