Rosalind Franklin University CRNA - May 2025

Updated:   Published

Anyone applying to RFU's CRNA program for May 2025 start? Applications open today in NursingCAS. I don't see the application yet so I plan to check again later in the day.

Does anyone know how long it usually takes for them to ask for an interview after Kira?

I'm a current student. When I applied it was a week between Kira and invitation to interview

any advice for someone who has been placed on hold with no offer to interview? Side note, I was offered the kira last year and was placed on hold a little while after, then was waitlisted. Feeling pretty discouraged honestly; not sure how to take it other than a denial? I did all the recommended things the director told me to do, as well. Thank you in advance.

A hold doesn't mean a rejection, they can reach out to you at any time. I was on hold for over a month before I was accepted. I really have no idea how they choose people, I'm still trying to understand why they picked me amongst many qualified applicants. I spent a lot of time writing my essay questions and had peers and mentors review them before I submitted my application. I looked up common interview questions and had answers prepared before my Kira and I rehearsed my answers a LOT. My interview was a group interview with multiple other candidates and I tried to answer first. The interview was pretty much all situational and emotional intelligence questions. I've learned that they really value diverse candidates of many  backgrounds so try to find something that makes you unique and highlight that. Everyone in my class gets along well but we are all so different and have had different paths to getting to anesthesia school. Don't give up hope!

Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I am trying my best to remain positive and work on other apps to keep my mind busy.

I'm happy to help. I remember how stressful the process was. It's a numbers game, the more places you apply the better your chances of getting in somewhere. I personally had multiple rejections

Hello, I follow these threads religiously and figured I might as well post too to contribute. I submitted my application 8/9 and received confirmation that my application was ready for review by 8/16. I received the invite to do the Kira Assessment 8/29 and per the email, it says the Kira assessment email will arrive in about 1 week from the invitation email. I have been an RN for about 5 years and some change. In my first year, I was on a Neuro Trauma unit at a level I Trauma center where I was able to join committees, become a preceptor, and a charge nurse (I know with one year of experience is a little sus, but I loved it and did fairly well). I transitioned to a large level I Trauma ED, where I remained for about 2.5 years. I also continued precepting and was on department-wide councils. I then traveled for about a year at Level I trauma centers. After coming back, I transitioned to a Cardiac/Medical ICU with advanced therapy modalities (excluding ECMO). I have joined Unit-based practice councils, Hospital-wide evidence-based safety, quality, and outcomes councils, and mentorship programs for New grads in the ICU. Additionally, I have 16 shadow hours and have joined an observatorship program where I should get 32 more hours for pediatric populations at a level I children's hospital (the school does not know this).

My stats include ASN GPA of 3.64 with valedictorian status, RN-BSN institutional GPA of 4.0 Overall GPA: 3.64, Science GPA: 3.42 (3.49 if I get an A in chem this semester), and Nursing GPA: 3.81. I have CCRN, TNCC, ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS. Also, I joined Diversity CRNA, which is a really lovely program, and I recommend joining! Im really grateful to even have received an invite. I know my stats are not as impressive as some. My advice is to be authentic, humble, honest, and vulnerable! Sorry for the long post but I hope some find this helpful!

Thank you for the detailed post! It was great to read! You have some great experience and I'm sure you'll do well.

I joined Diversity CRNA as well, but haven't been able to attend any events yet. Did you attend any?

Keep us updated!

Has anyone done the Kira yet? I think I'm going to do it today or tomorrow.
