Roll Call Hillsborough community college Spring 2012 Nursing

Published

I havent found any threads on the Spring 2012 Nursing program, soo i figured id start one! I have already recieved an Email saying everything has been recieved, just waiting on my letter to see if I was accepted! Does anyone know when theyll be sent out? Has anyone recieved that email yet? :redpinkhe

kthanhn--- yea for you! i am dm afternoons as well. going to call tomorrow (hopefully they are answer..it will be sunday, so idk..if i don't speak with someone, than monday it is) and get into the 11/19 cpr at 1pm with you.

so, anyone have any ideas for low-cost vaccinations? no medical insurance. checked with the county health department....$109 for each dose of the varicella vaccine (omg, heart attack) and $56 for the tdap.

OMG!!! you just gave me a heart attack RnNtraining!! Are you kidding me?!?!?! No way in hell I can afford all of that before Dec 2nd :( :(

Specializes in LTC.

I'm scared of not being able to get all that stuff in time for December 2 also. I really really had that they require so much of us, in such a little amount of time. I mean, we knew we needed a physical and immunizations, but in this short amount of time? C'mon people!

Hi KThanhN, No problem... I checked with the lady that got up about the physicals and she told me that the CPR certificate was valid and great that I found a cheaper one besides the school and going directly through AHA... She states that she will tell people to go through them if they ask for suggestions. So I'm glad u made an appt. It is fun... Also, I'm so glad that I made my appointment for my physical tomorrow... I can't believe they expect people to do it in a very short time... I'm going to do my physical and shots if need be in hopes of getting in the nights and weekends class... I would hate for it to be for nothing but I'm praying and thinking positive!

I know right...and the lady who administered the drug tests said that the county health department was the "cheap" place. I'm going to call her tomorrow to double check. But zomg....pawn shop here I come! I know I have to have the varicella though, because it wasn't available when I was a kid, and I've never had Chickenpox...and I know I have to have Tdap as well. Now, I do know that you have to wait 4-8 weeks in between each dose of the varicella, and the immunizations lady, Mrs. O, said that as long as we have the 1st dose by Dec 2nd, that is sufficient. So at least we have that going for us (not really, we still have to have the second 4 weeks after that...just gives us a little more time to come up with $109)

Lawd. Shoot me now.

On a side note: got some older versions of the fundamentals of nursing and clincial calculations books (still going to get the package..just going to use the old versions to study until I can get the package during bookcharging week) for a total of $12 including shipping today.

Does anyone have an e-mail address to the lady that presented the powerpoint regarding our medical records and baycare? I checked my e-mail and I did not see an e-mail from her. Thank you.

By the way, if anyone finds a cheap place to take the vericella, please do post and let us all know.

I think it [email protected]. Im not 100% sure and I dont have my paperwork with me. I wish she would email us that powerpoint !

Pinellas County Health Department has the varicella for $97. Not much cheaper.

Hey all! Congratulations on getting into the HCC nursing program!!! I graduate from the program this December and wanted to offer to help answer any questions you guys may have. I by no means know everything there is to know (especially since they seem to be changing a few things such as uniforms), but I would like to help if I can!

Bijin05: The email address you are looking for is [email protected]

Hi NeonTiger! Congrats on making it to the end of the program! I have a quesion for you. Is there anything from A&P that you had wished you had brushed up on before school started? I've heard fluids and electrolytes and I am already going through the first 8 chapters of my calculations book. Is there anything else you wished you had reviewed when you still had the time before school started? Not just for NP1 but for the whole program. Also, any study tips for when we are actually in the program. I really appreciate it! Thank you!

NeonTiger, thanks for the information. Please do give us some tips and do keep us posted on your job search. I don't know if anyone wonder whether all of the nursing graduates found jobs or what they are doing after graduating. Just curious whether the nursing jobs are saturated like most other career fields.

Hi everyone!!! The slides for the credentials and online orientation were finally posted this afternoon!!!

Before I head to bed, just want to let you ladies/gents know that you can get the tither for vericella at Tampa Occupational (it is the lady that did our screening). I did it with her a while back and I think the price was around $40. She did the tithers for Rubella, Mumps, and Vericella for mine several months back. You may want to check with her. It is cheaper to get the tither then paying $100 for the shot.
