Robots perform surgery at some places these days.

So how long before the same happens with nursing? I read an article from Japan a few years back about how nurses could titrate drips from the nursing station, which makes me wonder if nurses will eventually be replaced by robots too. One can't help but wonder.

"And of course, more robots as nurses might mean less demand for nurses, although probably unlikely. It is more likely that the aid of robotic nursing will just allow nurses to fulfill more meaningful duties and work stressors would decrease."

I'm sold.

I had one of those fancy robot surgeries 9 years ago. Amazing! They used to slice and dice you before using a robot, but as mentioned my doctor directed the "robot" he actually didn't even need to be in the hospital to use it. My insurance allowed one night stay and that was it. If they could get robots to turn pt's, clean up code browns, sit with pt's, bring pt's what they need, our jobs would be a lot easier.
