I am updating my staus.Still have moderate pain but pretty well control on 100 mcg patch got strenght back in my extremities, able to void now, but still have disienpack myself. have got feeling back in 50% of pelvic area. I am now going try try to look for work in homehealth in the near future. I am nervous about employers rejecting me on my injury history and use of narcotics. In addition, there was a study this year american medical ass. chronic pain patients using heavy narcotics for several years and people with no narcotics on board. these test consist of driving coorifices, cognitive test, and other test of perception. the chronic patiens on narcotics scored exactly same as none narcotic subjects proving that these people able to work and drive without any dangers. i beleive if a doctor clears you and you have your levels tested seeing you are not abusing your medicine should be able to work. thanks Trauma

if you are taking prescription medications with in the boundaries of the prescription and if you act perfectly normally on the job, then there is no reason for your prospective employers to reject you. when i was drug tested, i supplied the testers with full disclosure of my meds. i was called not because i took so many narcotics, but because i was taking a stimulant for my add. for that, they required that my doc send them not a fax but a hand written note stating that he had indeed prescribed this medication and that i wasn't hooked on crank....lol. so unless you very differently while on pain meds, don't worry about it. i've been on chronic pain meds for a very long time and have never had any question come up about my ability to function re:narcotics.
